Overview
Riverdale RV Park provides a tranquil setting for travelers exploring the rugged beauty of Cape Breton Island. Nestled along the banks of the Mira River, this park serves as a welcoming home base for those seeking a mix of natural serenity and historical exploration. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, reflecting the classic maritime hospitality found throughout Nova Scotia. It is a well-maintained facility that prioritizes peaceful stays and easy access to local coastal landmarks.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just minutes from the historic town of Louisbourg, the park offers a unique blend of riverfront views and lush greenery. The surrounding landscape is characterized by dense forests and the winding waters of the Mira, providing a natural buffer from the busier tourist areas. Travelers will find themselves immersed in a coastal environment where the Atlantic breeze meets the quietude of the riverside, making it an ideal spot for morning walks or evening stargazing.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is equipped with essential features designed for modern RVers, including full hookup sites with 30 and 50-amp electrical service. Spacious pull-through sites are available to accommodate larger rigs, ensuring a stress-free setup process. Guests have access to clean washroom and shower facilities, as well as on-site laundry services for convenience during long road trips. Each site typically includes a picnic table and fire ring, allowing visitors to enjoy a traditional camping experience under the Cape Breton sky.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw for visitors is the nearby Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, a massive 18th-century reconstruction that offers an immersive look into French colonial life. Beyond the fortress, the Louisbourg Lighthouse trail provides stunning views of the rocky coastline and the ocean. Visitors can also explore the local harbor to sample fresh Atlantic lobster or take a short drive to the scenic Cabot Trail, which is widely considered one of the most beautiful drives in North America.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for history enthusiasts and road trippers who want to be steps away from Nova Scotia’s most significant historical landmarks. It caters well to retirees and couples looking for a quiet retreat rather than a high-activity resort environment. Families seeking a simple, nature-focused base for exploring the eastern shores of Cape Breton will also find the park’s riverside setting and proximity to town highly convenient for their maritime adventures.

This (smaller) campsite is very well-organized. Shady pitches are located at the edge of the grounds. We had a fully hooked-up site and were almost perfectly level. The restroom facilities are VERY clean. A stay here is definitely recommended, especially because of the perfect location near the Fortress of Louisbourg.

Great location with free showers for campers. Very near the historic site.

Pretty quiet, handy to Fort for a short drive. Nicest showers (free) we have seen. Up a bit on Jack's to level, but side to side pretty level in #1. Some wifi in this spot close to office. There are drive through lots in center.
