I loved camping at Riverside campground. It was great, the sound of the river was wonderful. They have wifi and it worked great. Every spot had a water spout. The showers had the best smelling toiletries. The space was perfect, I definitely plan on going back camping 🏕️

A great place to stay, but after years of being a family-run camp ground, it is now corporate. Prices have increased dramatically and after camping there for over 50 years, the warm feeling of "welcome back* is gone. Since I wrote this, I have new information, the person that was “incharge”. was not really in charge and caused all sorts of problems during the Transition of ownership.. She is no longer there and I Felt welcome. I’m still removing one star because the prices has have gone up dramatically.

Quaint little private campground in Big Sur. Convenient location, good price, free coffee and hot chocolate. Showers and bathrooms were clean. You are a little close to the neighbors but it’s fine as we were out exploring during the day anyways. Would camp with them again

Pros: Great location with a nice, shallow river that is perfect for kids to play in. Within walking distance of a restaurant and general store. Playground nearby. Cons: Not all cabins have bathrooms, so be careful which one you book. $100 fine for leaving past check out, which is fine and understandable under normal circumstances, except that my car broke down leaving me a the mercy of a tow truck on the day I was supposed to leave and they still charged me. Absolutely no wiggle room even though the next party had not arrived by the time I was able to leave, and I was completely packed up well before it was time to check out.

This campground is generally great. The location is really nice. There is a little river that runs through it, which is mostly very shallow and perfect for kids to play in. There is a playground at the next campground over and a restaurant and general store that are easy to walk to. We tent camped and felt very comfortable and safe. Unfortunately, I had a frustrating situation with the battery dying in my car, which ended up necessitating a call to a tow company on the day I was scheduled to leave. I tried jumping my car multiple times (I ended up needing a new battery). I was doing everything I could to get my car out of the spot, but I was physically unable to move it until about 2 and a half hours after check out time. The staff kept coming around and warning me that if I didn’t move it, they would be charging me a late fee. It was very stressful and almost felt like they didn’t believe me or understand that I could not move the car (it’s hybrid, and I couldn’t even figure out how to manually get it into neutral). I get that this is the policy, but I think it is important for people to know that there is no wiggle room on this even in cases that are entirely out of your control. Furthermore, if you have any concerns about your own car, get a spot down by the river, not up the hill (the staff kept telling me that a tow truck might not even be able to get up to my car… so stressful). To be fair, I would add that there are some really lovely staff members there. The woman who runs the camp store is very kind and tried to be helpful, which I appreciated.

This place is amazing and out-of-this-world. This was our first time camping by the river. Our family made such great memories here and can't wait to book again. The people working here were very kind, friendly, and accommodating. The camp store had healthy options. The grounds and the bathrooms were well maintained. Huge thanks to Julio. Thank you so much for all your help with our camper van. You have made our camping trip memorable in a very good way. We would’ve never known what to do. You are a great asset to the Riverside camping community.

Loved camping at Riverside. Had a great site by the water, showers are included, complimentary morning coffee. Will come again!

Absolutely no privacy. Only recommend if you are camping with large groups so you can be next to each other. Laundry was poor and bathrooms were meh. Entrance on a dangerous turn with little visability to exit, and with a steep incline. Small vehicles only.

We stayed here in our Class C RV. The spot was level. The spots are close together but we didn’t mind. Staff is very friendly and the store has plenty of options and lots of firewood. Free coffee, tea, and oatmeal! The bathrooms were clean and showers had great water pressure and heat. Absolutely beautiful spot. Riverside sites are feet from the water!

Loved my cabin Number One, it was a perfect way to end the day on my roadtrip. Thanks to a couple a met at Point Lobos for the tip!. The gal at check-in was very personable and fun to chat with - about all sorts of things. Nepenthe is just down the street for sunsets.

We had such a great time staying in cabin 1! It was so peaceful with a lovely woodsy smell, a hot shower, and comfortable beds. We could even hear the soothing sound of the river from our cabin patio. Plus, we really enjoyed the fire pit and the super pet-friendly staff who always gave our furry friend a treat when we visited the camp store. And to top it all off, we loved having a sushi truck on the weekends!

Love coming here. The redwoods and River are great ways to just relax in nature. Staff is great! Very family oriented campground, they're not big on people who just want to party.

Best spot ever! Staff is always cool and calm! (Even if they get some bad seed campers) Patty rocks! Camp Councilor comes around in the AM to check on things! Housekeeping does a great job! Also, very dog friendly!

I spent an amazing couple of nights at Riverside as part of a group of ladies, all getting together after a number (a lot) of years. The venue was ideal for our reunion weekend. We were able to spend time together around the attractive grounds. Anthony lit amazing huge campfires for us on both nights in the charmingly illuminated old quarry. We were spread between our beautifully appointed cabins. They were all a little bit different and provided everything you would need for your stay … and more. It was delightful to wake up and hear nothing other than the sound of water in the river below my individual boutique cabin. I look forward to returning and showing my other half and four legged friend what a gorgeous place it is!

From the moment you pull in to the campground you are being transported to another world. Happy, beautiful, green, scenic and relaxing. Wonderful and kind staff. Clean bathroom and showers. Great camping sites. The camp store looks like it stepped off the fairy tale book. Absolutely lovely. Fall asleep to the sounds of river and redwood forest. Priceless experience, just a magical place.
