You know a campground is good when you decide to return within a week! Three loops, one closest to the lake which also appeared to be the most crowded, one a bit higher up with also great high spots with views of the lakes and amazing surrounding mountains, one lower and closest to the road. The latter was almost unoccupied the first night we spent here. Clean vault toilets, nice water points. Closed for the season September 21st.

Awesome campsite (book in advance on rec.gov) with nearby access to the twin lakes. Always a joy paddle boarding on the lakes when the wind isn’t too high. Can make it to the ghost resort across the way from the campground and explore which is always a blast for the kiddos

Incredible views at this campground! Some of the sites are closer together than others so definitely look at the map before booking if you care about being closer to other campers. The stars are great at night, and there's paddle board/kayak/canoe rental by the lake.

The views here are incredible and the facilities are spotless—truly one of the nicest campgrounds we’ve stayed at. However, the total lack of leash rule enforcement made our stay very stressful. Multiple people let their dogs roam freely. One campsite in particular was out of control, big family with two dogs. When walking to get water the dog from their campsite charged ours which was leashed, didn’t have good recall and forced us to pick up our dog (65lb) to avoid a potentially very dangerous situation. Owners didn’t seem remorseful at all. So we tried to avoid them for rest of our stay. As we were leaving campsite. Guess what? Same people, same off-leash dogs, walking right past campsites again with no control. It felt unsafe and totally ignored by staff. This could easily be a 5-star campground, but until leash rules are actually enforced, it’s just not safe for people whose doggie are not as friendly. I hate to sound like a “Karen,” but it made me really nervous to even walk our dog around the campsite. If you have a reactive dog, kids, or just expect leash rules to be followed, be aware. This place has a lot going for it, but until they take that seriously, it’s hard to fully relax here :(

Great spot if you’re looking for a Boondocking location with large spots for your rig. Some of the spots did not have shade from trees, which made it very hot under the direct sun. Another big con was that there are no water hookups/refill or sewage dumps. Our party filled up at Leadville Sanitation. The latrines were very clean and the hosts were friendly.
