You know a campground is good when you decide to return within a week! Three loops, one closest to the lake which also appeared to be the most crowded, one a bit higher up with also great high spots with views of the lakes and amazing surrounding mountains, one lower and closest to the road. The latter was almost unoccupied the first night we spent here. Clean vault toilets, nice water points. Closed for the season September 21st.

Awesome campsite (book in advance on rec.gov) with nearby access to the twin lakes. Always a joy paddle boarding on the lakes when the wind isn’t too high. Can make it to the ghost resort across the way from the campground and explore which is always a blast for the kiddos

Incredible views at this campground! Some of the sites are closer together than others so definitely look at the map before booking if you care about being closer to other campers. The stars are great at night, and there's paddle board/kayak/canoe rental by the lake.

The views here are incredible and the facilities are spotless—truly one of the nicest campgrounds we’ve stayed at. However, the total lack of leash rule enforcement made our stay very stressful. Multiple people let their dogs roam freely. One campsite in particular was out of control, big family with two dogs. When walking to get water the dog from their campsite charged ours which was leashed, didn’t have good recall and forced us to pick up our dog (65lb) to avoid a potentially very dangerous situation. Owners didn’t seem remorseful at all. So we tried to avoid them for rest of our stay. As we were leaving campsite. Guess what? Same people, same off-leash dogs, walking right past campsites again with no control. It felt unsafe and totally ignored by staff. This could easily be a 5-star campground, but until leash rules are actually enforced, it’s just not safe for people whose doggie are not as friendly. I hate to sound like a “Karen,” but it made me really nervous to even walk our dog around the campsite. If you have a reactive dog, kids, or just expect leash rules to be followed, be aware. This place has a lot going for it, but until they take that seriously, it’s hard to fully relax here :(

Great spot if you’re looking for a Boondocking location with large spots for your rig. Some of the spots did not have shade from trees, which made it very hot under the direct sun. Another big con was that there are no water hookups/refill or sewage dumps. Our party filled up at Leadville Sanitation. The latrines were very clean and the hosts were friendly.

4 stars because the dump station was closed. Great campground will definitely be back! Beautiful views, good size sites. It's quite large so you need to drive to the lake. Pretty crazy we had rain in the forecast the entire time and it only drizzled twice!! The lake is flat as can be and great for sup. Internet reception is great! Not that this is important when camping, but it was during the week and I was able to get work done which is nice when your a business owner

Campground with a beautiful view. We were lucky enough to get one of the best camp site there. We had a view of both lake and mountain from our tent. Around 5mins walk to the lake. There’s also kayaks and paddle boats for rent in the lake. But, be careful of the weather and high winds before going to the lake for water activities. It was really windy when we were there and we had to rescue a lady and a body who were struggling to get back to shore on their paddle boats due to high winds. And yes, they had the cleanest restrooms 👍

Great location with really quiet campgrounds. No running water was a huge bummer and a pretty big inconvenience but we understand it was just temporary. There wasn’t a great spot for our tent, except in the driveway area, but it was difficult to put our posts into it. Also didn’t have a view of the lake from our campsite, but we could walk five minutes for a beautiful view.

The lakes are very beautiful, and the mountains surrounding the area are even more so. The bathrooms were pretty clean. The campsites were excellent. This is a really great place to go. I would highly recommend it. The only slight inconvenience was that there was no running water. But apart from that, it was a great experience and I hope to go back again.

This campground is so beautiful & definitely worth checking out! Campsites are spacious & spread out well, so you don’t feel too close to your neighbors. This campground is a short drive from Independence Pass, which takes you from Twin Lakes into Aspen. If you go during a time when this road is open (closed for winter), I would definitely recommend driving it & seeing some of the trails off that road.

We have been to several campgrounds in the past 3 weeks, and White Star has been our family's favorite! The set up is great, and we did not feel cramped at all. The sites are very clean, and bathrooms are the cleanest campground bathrooms I've ever seen. 5 stars for the camp hosts!! No potable water at this moment, but that wasn't a problem as we packed it in, and there is a small gas station in twin lakes of needed.

This was an amazing campground! The camp host was terrific, extremely helpful, and very pleasant. The bathrooms were exquisite - not a spec of dust, low vault, plenty of toilet paper, and only the smell of the freshener. The views, along with the spots to tent camp were phenomenal as well, having well maintained trails and no trash. The people were also very friendly and helpful. All in all, this was one -if not the best- campgrounds I have visited.

Some of the most amazing views to wake up in Colorado.
