Used to really enjoy camping here but our most recent trip has us feeling disappointed. The campground used to strictly enforce their rules but now not so much. People were being loud and obnoxious partying late into the night. The majority of the campsites are packed entirely too close together with absolutely no privacy at all. Bought a drink from one of their vending machines and it had expired in July of 2024. This was October of 2025. Took it to the gate and they said yeah we’ve had complaints about that. Didn’t offer to refund or remedy the situation at all. If they knew there was an issue why wasn’t it corrected or at least signs put up so people didn’t waste their money. We’ve been coming here for years but now we’re not sure about coming back again.

A decent campground with full hookups. We had a large site. There is a nice playground for the kids and my granddaughter spent a lot of time there. The family enjoyed plenty of swimming at the lake too. However, i believe it should be free for people with valid permits from already being in the campground via camping. Or, charge a $5 all you can swim wristband for the length of their camping trip.

The front office was amazing I rented a rowboat it was really cheap and it was a good time. Did not go to the beach but it did look to be very clean and nice

Great place to camp and enjoy the weekend. Shower house was nice once the water warmed up. Nice camp suites and a great playground for the kids. The lake is clean and very enjoyable for the our family of 8. The kids really enjoyed the fishing all weekend.

Very beautiful area, watch out when driving in the park, they let the goats and donkey from the petting zoo out to graze in the mornings, i came around a curve and there was a whole herd standing in the road so really be mindful of the 15mph speed limit they have.

Great place to camp and enjoy the outdoors. Nature trails and petting zoo are great for the kids. The trail behind the petting zoo is a pretty short walk, has a few ups and downs but still good for 4+ yr old. Very well kept county park. Brand new picnic tables this year. Took our camper out for first camping trip of the year. Got in spot 65 with full hookups. Would recommend Scales Lake for camping!

The place is so beautiful. My husband and I have stayed there several times now and I have to say other than the torrential rain it was a very nice stay. My husband is up up there working and travel up to see him when he's out of town like this and and scales lake is just beautiful the the animals the you know the playgrounds the cabins the water everything it's just it's just amazing there.

This is a great little find. Hiking and mountain bike trails right in the campground. The wagon wheel design is great if you have a group of campers bringing RVs but can be a bit off putting if you want solitude. The grounds are clean, quite and have a bath house and laundry. Access after 6 pm is through a traditional padlock gate, which seems outdated, but works perfectly. I would absolutely recommend coming here if you like mountain biking or want to get away and camp in a low volume, quiet campground.

A well-maintained campground with above average playgrounds, and a small barn with various animals the kids can see up close. The campsites themselves are very close together and most have no privacy whatsoever because several are lined up on one big gravel parking lot and many are packed so closely together that there's no room for foliage. The restrooms and shower house were kept nicely clean but the showers have no temperature control which was a bummer during the hot summer days we stayed there (water was too hot.) The beach is also very clean but you have to pay to swim there (even if a registered camper) and the beach was only open until 5pm, even on weekends. Their cancellation policy is too restrictive in my opinion, and we didn't appreciate the staff using gas-powered leaf blowers right outside our camper before 9AM on a Friday morning and before 8AM on a Sunday morning! Aside from that, this is a decent place to get together with friends and family, but overall we left underwhelmed.
