We dont normally camp in an established campground. But this one is great. We typically go either early or late season and on weekend. So that being the case it's almost never crowed when we go. The camp hosts and staff keep it well maintained and the vault toilet facilities clean. A beautiful place to camp

The campsite was well managed and very clean. Even though the restroom was a pit toilet, it was surprisingly well-kept and didn’t have any unpleasant odor.

Great site, located in just under 6000 feet elevation in the Sequoia Natuonal Forest, next to a walkable meadow trail. The campground has a dump station for RVs. Quiet campsite with lots of space between campers. Few miles to Hume Lake and fork in the road to Kings Canyon Side where Boyden Caverns are located.

Cross-posting from recreation.gov: Very nice campground: campsites well-spaced, lovely trees and meadow, toilets clean and non-stinky. (however the 2 days the campground host was off [mon-tues] and someone else filled in, the toilets were not as well-taken care of. Downgrading 1 star for that. bring TP. And some campers just never shut the lid, argh.) 55 SHIN was pleasant but small, only level space for 1 tent, and that had to be right next to the picnic table. Other spot doesn’t slant too much so would be workable but is very close to road. Nice shade morning and evening, direct sun midday. (Probably every site in this campground is like that because the trees are all pines without broad branches.) Not quite 2 hours to get to Crystal Cave, about 25-30 minutes less to the Sherman Tree area, 10 minutes to Grant Grove Village. Great star watching spot 3 miles east on 180. Kings Canyon is amazing. We arrived on a Sunday and it was lots of tents and families; larger groups and more RVs moved in on Thursday. Thursday night was still quiet, though. (We left Friday morning.) I would definitely come back, though would look for a site on the outer loop for personal preference. PICNIC TABLE IS SLANTED, BRING SOMETHING TO LEVEL YOUR STOVE.

5 stars for the campground as a whole, but 1 star for the particular campsite that we had. DO NOT GET CAMPSITE #50 IF YOU HAVE AN RV OR TRAVEL TRAILER!!!! The parking spot for the trailer/rv is at a very steep incline, and it drops down off of the pavement which makes it VERY difficult to pull a travel trailer in and out without scraping the bottom of the trailer. The campsite is also NOT FULL SHADE like it states, it's only partial shade and a LOT of sun between 10 AM and about 1 PM. There is a slope that leads down to the picnic table, so it will be a lot of leg work going up and down from your trailer/rv/car to the picnic table and campfire area. On top of that, this particular campsite is facing the wrong direction from the way you're supposed to drive in on the loop road, so it makes it nearly impossible to back a trailer into. I hope people read this honest review and do not book this particular campsite if you have a travel trailer or RV, it's not a good idea. This campsite would be best for people with tents, and nothing more.

The campground was clean but quite busy. The camp hosts did a great job keeping it clean and helping solve problems. The restrooms were mostly clean, but got smelly quickly because there were so many people. The main complaint I had was the lack of enforcing the 10 pm quiet time. It was very noisy into the night and made it difficult to sleep.

Loved the location which is conveniently located 20 minutes away from Hume Lake were you can take a dip to cool off also 45 minutes away from Cedar Grove were you have the Kings river flowing if you'd like to take a cold plunge in the frigid waters. We also got lucky and caught a glimpse of the perseids meteor shower this weekend from our campsite.

Fantastic setup deep in the National Forest. All the sites and the bathrooms were very clean and tidy. The hostess was super friendly and had lots of good for us. No showers as is the case inside the National Park/Forest, this was really the only thing missing. The elevation made it so that we could have campfires which was awesome.

Would highly recommend. Campground is off the road and just outside of Hume Lake! Camp host, Christian, was absolutely amazing and so kind. You can buy firewood from him for $10 a bundle. Campground had pit toilets and tons of room for activities and for kids to play! The campsite is made up of a few different loops, so kids were riding bikes and playing throughout. Camp site was spacious and well kept. We had a ton of space between us and other campers on all sides of our site. Overall great experience and we loved the inclusivity sign hanging on the hosts camper when you enter!

Better campground options around this area. Easy trail.

Every spot here is gorgeous, plenty of shade though you might have to move around for it. Lots of flying bugs but no skeeters. Lots of tree pollen so bring your allergy meds. Bathrooms were very clean for pit toilets. The camp host was fun and friendly, and the firewood they sold was very hot and easy to light. It's about 20 minutes from Sandy Cove on Hume Lake which is a great place to go hang out and soak for the hottest part of the day. We also discovered you can buy food and rent kayaks/SUPs/etc from the Christian camp without being campers.
