Very small campground 21 spots in loop A and there are 2 loops. The spots are spread out good enough. Bear boxes ought to let you know that it is out far enough from the noise of civilization. Walking trail to the falls. No extra parking at the campground so not a lot of extra people around. No hookups and has community water spigots and pit toilets. Fairly maintained for the budget of a National Park, It's not Yosemite and not Lawsons Landing. Meandering deer and peaceful atmosphere while we were there. No one ran generators and no one had loud music. You can hear the falls and hear and feel the winds blow through the trees. We went on Memorial Day weekend.

Beautiful campground with a wonderful location right on the waterfall trail. The pit toilets are.. relatively clean, taps on site and trash that's emptied regularly. The sites are nice and spread out and feel private. My only gripe is the campground is totally overrun by a lot, I mean A LOT of mule deer. Nice to see during the day but in my personal experience sleeping in a tent, in the dark of night I'm convinced every large animal tromping in the woods nearby is a bear.. so take that as you will.

Beautiful location. Clean bathrooms and camp spaces. Firepits ready to use. Our spot allowed plenty of shade but also spacious star gazing. And natrually easy access to trail to falls.

Most of the campsites are nice with shade and plenty of trees. We stayed at site 27B which is waterfront with the lower/middle falls trail passing right next to the site. Sites 24 and  27 are the best sites on loop B. Note it's hard to tell from the map, but there really isn't nice river access from the site as it's a steep grade down and no landing. River access is very accessible at the lower falls. Nice trail to the middle falls but again accessing the water is less than desirable as you have to scale big boulders and again there is no landing. Good swimming. Yes we would come back!

We went up here for a father's day fly fishing trip and were stunned by the beauty of how pristine this section of the upper McCloud River was. We continue to go here every year and always catch fish, with a new adventure awaiting us each time. These easy access and well-maintained trails made our trip easy! Thank you! If any new or experienced fishermen are looking to come here and fly fish or spin fish, I recommend to come here either in early summer/ late spring or early fall. This location is also very beginner friendly! Great for the experienced and non.

Great spot to check out a beautiful river.  Port-o-potties and running water are the only services offered.  There are a few first come, first serve sites to stumble upon but most are reservation only.  It's a super quiet setting within a few minutes of town where you can resupply.  I highly recommend a few days here to enjoy the volcano and pray the pimple doesn't burst whilst gazing at its monstrous relief.

We loved this campground! Especially because you can walk to the falls from it. We walked to the lower falls and to the middle falls. We drove to the upper falls lookout.  The campsite was large and shady. I loved hearing the river at night. You could also hear the traffic on 89, but it wasn't that bad. Beautiful place. Would stay here again.

My boyfriend and I camped here in June of 2022. We will be going back in the summer of 2023. Arguably one of the best camping spots we've been to! Clean beautiful and quiet. Gorgeous waterfalls,  hiking,  and fishing. Lots of wild life to view. Worth the drive!

This is a nice campground with fairly high traffic.  Most all sites have significant paving for level areas at the picnic table and bear box.  All campsites had bear boxes and the trash was bear proof too.  The campground is situated next to the trail that travels from Lower to Upper McLeod Falls.  This adds a lot of foot traffic and use on the pit toilets in the camp. The host was kind and the grounds were well kept.

Nice facilities. We were spoiled by El Dorado hosts over the years keeping bathrooms clean and being super friendly so the only thing I would say I wasn’t a fan of was the hosts. Bathrooms were not really cleaned on a regular basis. Campground area was pretty clean, firewood and shade were abundant. Easy hike/walk to swim, accessible/paved paths. River was beautiful. Nights were pretty quiet. Would still like to go back next year.

What a great camping spot! You have three waterfalls to hike to and enjoy. Upper falls, middle falls and lower falls.  All easy hikes with a beautiful reward at the end. The campground was visited by a group of deer daily and they were not worried about people being near-bye. I got some really good pictures pretty close up before I decided i better not push my
Luck!  I will be coming back here now that i know how wonderful it is!
