Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground

Enjoy the peace and quiet here. Close to all my mountain activities.

I’ve stayed at Smokey mountain meadows several times over the last 10 years. I’ve always liked the area. However, one morning while cooking, my water was turned off by a nosey busybody/camp host while I was cooking without any notice sometime around 8AM without the courtesy of a door knock while I was in my camper. Reason given was it was spraying some water while I was investigating the issue outside, had I simply been notified of this when happening it wouldn’t have been a problem. Next incident was on a Friday before leaving Saturday a campground employee who apparently lives on the property in a tent continued to mow the grounds up until around 6PM while people were cooking stirring an abundance of dust. I understand these things need to be done but early evening time while food prep is happening is not it. It has turned into a pseudo trailer park with all the annual renters which in my opinion detracts from the one time quiet and beautiful campground it once was. Future camping trips will most likely not have this campground being the destination.

Clean and nice! We did not use the bath house, so we cannot comment on those, but there was someone blowing leaves or mowing or other maintenance while we were there maintaining the grounds. Would have given 5 stars except the WiFi signals were a little weak and spotty, but it was a very nice campground.

This is a fantastic campground with gorgeous views and best of all, quiet. Owners are exceptional and if you are looking for a rustic, extremely well maintained campground than you have found your place. With endless things to do and visit within 30 minutes, you can't go wrong with Smokey Mountain Meadows...!!!

Centrally located and cozy camping. Cabins, RV and tent spots. Grass was nice and gravel roads to sites well maintained. Bath house is clean and very nice to have while tent camping. Welcoming staff and a pleasant place to stay.

Bathrooms/showers weren't maintained on a busy weekend: Ladies Room was without toilet paper for almost 2 days. You advertise many campsites as being "hammock friendly". They are not. You apparently have never attempted to hang camping or lounging hammocks from the trees in those sites. Please stop advertising those sites as Hammock Sites because people book those sites specifically to hang sleeping hammocks, and then find out otherwise when they show up to the campground. I pointed this out to the office last month, but the website has not changed. Do better.

While the creek side tent spots are an ideal setting. The heavy equipment, camper storage and debris pile parked right next to it take away from an other wise nice setting. Hopefully the new management will get that squared away before our next trip.

Absolutely the worst advertised campground I’ve ever been to in my life. They stated it was “riverside” ummmm nooooo!!! It’s basically a big open field with absolutely no privacy or shade. Picture Woodstock. The “barely there stream of water” was covered by trees at the campsite and there was basically just a huge mound of dirt where they told us to set up. We asked for a different spot and they said they were full. We paid SIXTY SIX dollars for this tent camping experience on the river!! We asked for a refund and they refused (otherwise, I wouldn’t have left a review at all. They should have made it right.) We luckily found a beautiful spot at Deep Creek Campground otherwise we would have had to drive two hours home!!! Do.not.be.scammed. Edit to owners response: Not at any point did I leave a “threatening” email. I reached out and stated that I’d be happy to not leave bad reviews if your business made it right and refunded us when there was no way in heck were staying there in that field. I hate leaving bad reviews because I know how it can affect a business. No hard feelings! It worked out better for us because Deep Creek was free and absolutely beautiful! (Just 6 miles down the road and probably 100 campsites on a real creek!)

The portapotties need service. The trash dump behind the EC/truck parking is an eyesore. The campsite numbering signs are not clear. The campsite is nice. The bathhouse is clean
