Location & Surroundings

Situated in Burton, TX, the park is nestled in the heart of the Brazos Valley. The landscape is characterized by gently rolling hills and sprawling oak trees that provide ample shade for many of the campsites. Its proximity to Brenham makes it a convenient stop for travelers exploring Central Texas. The surroundings feel secluded and rustic, offering a necessary break from city noise while remaining easily accessible via scenic rural highways.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility offers over 150 campsites, most of which include water and electric hookups. Visitors appreciate the generous spacing between sites, which is a hallmark of COE parks. The grounds feature multiple boat ramps and a dedicated swimming area, catering to water enthusiasts. Additionally, the park provides clean restroom facilities, hot showers, and a dump station, ensuring a comfortable stay for RVers who prefer a more self-contained camping style.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Fishing is a primary draw at Lake Somerville, with the waters being well-stocked with bass, catfish, and crappie. For land-based activities, the Lake Somerville Trailway offers miles of paths for hiking, birding, and mountain biking through diverse habitats. Just a short drive away, you can visit the historic town of Brenham to tour the famous Blue Bell Creameries or explore the Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site, known as the birthplace of Texas.

Wish they actually cared about the beauty of the lake and overlook, can’t ever let my kids enjoy because the grass is always over grown, been coming to overlook for months and never once have they weed eat around the monument stating history of the park. Such a shame

We enjoyed out spring break at Rocky Creek Park.We enjoyed ourselves. We got to walk and seen deer.Staff was super friendly! and the place was clean. Just keep in mind that the restrooms have one shower. but other than that it was great. Restaurants and Walmart and HEB were about a 15min drive. Keep up the good job RCP.

I wasn’t welcomed in the most friendly way, it was my first time coming out to this park so I didn’t exactly know how entering the park worked. I also don’t camp much either. They should probably have arrows before you get to the entrance telling you which road to take and how to get to where you are going. Other than that it’s a beautiful park, I’d want to come back for that.

Understand the park was wonderful and clean. All it takes is one person to ruin our stay. From the first day, we were harassed by one of the volunteers (Tom). Constantly telling us we couldn't park in certain places, couldn't drive in and look for a spot, told others that we were trouble, telling us we HAD to check out even after we had asked for an extension for my dog to have surgery. Just constant stress so much so that every time a car would come by we dreaded that it was him. We will never return to that park. He made our entire stay miserable and we did absolutely nothing wrong.
