I really enjoyed my car camping stay at this park. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The staff was pleasant and I appreciated being invited to an evening scorpion walk. An overall very good vibe here.

Overall the park was pretty so-so. It borders the reservoir which is pretty, but nothing to write home about. The shore is super mucky and not very suitable for swimming or anything else. The campground seems fairly neglected with very little time spent on care or upkeep. The garbages were emptied and the bathrooms were fairly clean. I wouldn’t spend more than a night here again. The price for the stay for only electric is a little steep for a state park IMO. Our spot 22 was the best though because of all the shade from the trees. It was peaceful and fun to watch all the birds in our campsite in the mornings.

This is a wonderful park in northeastern Utah with lake and sandy beaches to sunbathe, and enjoy swimming for entry fee of just $5 for seniors! It’s near Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area and Vernal’s dinosaur marvels. Plan a flight to Salt Lake City then drive around 2 hours east to Vernal through beautiful mountain country!

Definitely worth it if you have your state pass. A wholesome spot for you and your family to swim, but also a great fishing spot for anyone! The fish there are bass, trout, bluegill, and much more! The beaches can be muddy and have burrs, but they’re normally comfortable and nice to stay at! I’ve personally caught tons of bass and I normally don’t have any problems catching fish. Definitely 5 stars!

Stayed here on a trip to Dinosaur National Monument in early April. A mix of hookup and dry camp spots. Water was shut off for the winter but they had winter rates to offset that. There were vault toilets at the campground. The ranger was not there so we needed cash to pay because camping was not an option on the kiosk or online, only drop off envelopes. That was the only issue we had. There was signal at the campground, but slow 4G. They did have very reasonable rates to pay for Wi-Fi use. A travel router would be great for that. We loved the staying on the shore of the reservoir and it was gorgeous in the snow.

So far this has been awesome. The staff has been helpful and it's beautiful. I wish the men's bathrooms worked, I hate that men have to use the vault toilet, I hate vault toilets. We are in camp site 16 and the lake is literally 32' from my trailer. The trailer sites are big and the pull through sites have power, but no water or sewer hookups. Other than the drive to the middle of nowhere this is a cool place. We'll come back for sure, if you're allergic to Cottonwood trees bring extra Meds, cause there are a lot of them here.

I love Steinaker State Park. We camp here almost every year. The reservoir is beautiful and the water was high this year. Just a few minutes from Vernal makes it convenient if you forget anything. The camp ground is cleans and has flushing bathrooms. Try it out! You will love it.
