Best place to camp in all of michigan. Fishing, camping, good people. I was worried to hear of the new park management because I just loved seeing the old guy that used to run the place, but the new kid is doing a great job! I hope to continue making family memories here. Thanks for the hospitality and a safe place to bring my kids.

How do you improve paradise? Well they found a way. It is happening now. Even with the improvements happening all around, it was a very nice stay. Plenty to do for all ages. Excellent. It's on the must see list for michigan as far as I am concerned.

This campground has potential but needs some work. There is no check-in process so it was confusing upon arrival. The lake is not treated so there are leaches making it somewhat scary to swim. LOTS of goose poop on the sites by the water. Seems like a good fishing lake. Good hiking trails. Nobody seem to be patrolling for rule enforcement. But campers were respectful and well behaved.

I've been coming to this park since I was a child and my father has been coming to this park since he was a child. It has been the backdrop of many family memories. There is a swimming area and a shallow stream area. There are two main areas of the park. A large side with the bath house, front office/store, and a majority of the camper/tent plots. There is also a smaller group of plots on the opposite side of the camp (there is a road but also trails that lead from one side to the other. There is also a bridge that leads over the stream to bear island. There are a few primitive plots on the island for tent campers. The camp has a communal space between the bathhouse and office/store where they sometimes have live music. We got to enjoy some music and some lovely wooden bench swings during Labor Day weekend. The lake and the stars are beautiful here, and we have thoroughly enjoyed camping here. That said, it seems like they are in the process of improving some of the older amenities, as the showers were a little worse for wear during our stay, but the restrooms seemed fine for a camp of this age.

My family has enjoyed coming here for years in fact it's one of our favorite places to camp.this year we camped here several times and have noticed that the seasonal campers have taken over the park! Making it very difficult for families like us to camp for a weekend! If you look around there are soooo many people who have set up car ports and decks, patio sets. The seasonal campers are now harassing families who are there for a few days making it so miserable they no longer want to come back and I'm sad to say we are one of them! I hope this situation gets handled soon!

We have only visited for the day. My son loves to fish and has caught quite a few. The okay equipment is very old but I'm good condition. The bridge to bear Island is very picturesque.

We enjoyed a wonderful four night stay here! Our kids were never bored! The camp manager and hosts/seasonal campers are all super sweet and go above and beyond to ensure that the park is a safe and fun place for everyone!

Nice rustic campground with very friendly manager and camp host. Our route from the north took us down a gravel road, Maple Lane Road, it was unexpected, but the road was pretty smooth. If you go south another mile or so south on 65, Leer Road goes to the city of Long Rapids. The camp store was very well stocked when we were there. The camp manager was very friendly. The camp is a very rustic, county park on the edge of a large sinkhole lake. The sites all seem really spacious with good water pressure and new 50 amp service. Since we were there in September the camp was pretty empty and we took the best site in the campground, #24, right on the edge of the lake. The camp host was right across from us and he stopped over to make sure everything was OK. Overall we really enjoyed Sunken Lake. It was very quiet and kept up well. We used the bathrooms and they were very clean. The eagles put on quite a show and the bugless nights made on stay very enjoyable and relaxing.
