I would say Temperance River State Park is one of the best MN waterfall parks. Camping was great, the ranger was so helpful, the trails were amazing as well as the views!

gorgeous state park- many options for access to Lake Superior, sandy beach outstretched across the lower campground sites (wasn’t able to reserve a campsite here- but if they are available, definitely worth booking!), various trails & waterfalls to hike near, bathrooms were clean & well maintained. friendly park rangers as well!

Nice little hidden area that wasn't too crowded. We had fun going in the water to hunt for gates. Plenty of rocks to climb on or sit on. There are two porta potties at the top of the trail.

Absolutely beautiful stop! The waterfalls are stunning and make for amazing photo ops, and the beach walkway along Lake Superior is perfect for a peaceful stroll. It’s a great spot to stretch your legs and burn some time with the family while traveling. Easy trails, fresh air, and scenic views—what more could you ask for?

Overall, I would say this is the best park on the North Shore and a contender for the best in the state. The waterfalls are awesome, with great trails and access around them. Numerous other excellent trails that connect with Superior National Forest. It has excellent overlooks, campgrounds, and day use area that are on the shores of Lake Superior. All packed into a smaller park. Plus, none of the crowds of Gooseberry and Tettegouche.

We went towards the end of march and luckily stumbled upon the park on a snow day. Was so magical, felt like we were in Narnia. We didn’t make it all the way to upper falls sadly because one of our group members didn’t like the ice so we turned around after 45 minutes. I thought it was a perfect day. Definitely need to come back to see the other falls. Lots of parking availability and very peaceful.

Had the best two weeks here. Campground is perfect. Only issue is there is no dump station there. Sunrise and sunsets were magical there. The trails all around the park are awesome. Best area for waterfall chasing

What a beautiful state park! We hiked the hiking club trail and it was around 3 miles that followed the Temperance river. What a spectacular gorge! Very short treck from 61 to the top. Be very careful with children!

Temperance River State Park is one of the most underrated and a hidden gem in the North shore. One. Would never get enough of the lake Superiors view from this park. I have camped here twice and the experience was amazing. I recommend camping at the lower campground and sports particularly 42-44 for the best experience. I am glad that I chose this park for my vacation. The amenities are good overall. They have an onsite shower and toilet facilities which are well maintained. Bug spray is a must because the park can get damp .

Beautiful park! Great nature trails for hiking, beautiful views of the river as it flows rapidly toward Lake Superior. During spring/summer definitely need some mosquito and black fly repellent due to the moisture and dense foliage.

Wonderful campground with activities for the whole family! Clean, well-kept, showers and bathrooms. Great campsites for the money. We hiked up to Carlton Peak (6 miles). Highly recommend!

Spent several days camping here. Absolutely loved it. Private campsites, amazing scenery, clean facilities. Will definitely be back. We came from out of state so didn't know we had to have a parking permit, but the officer here was super helpful and got us sorted straight away. Minnesota really does State Parks the right way.

Beautiful but too close to the noisy road.
