5 stars all around, though you should know there is NO (room) service. It's a cabin, not a hotel. You pack it in, you pack it out. The well is nearby so water is no worry typically, though you might want to bring some anyway just in case it's not running well (

The cabin is completely amazing with locally sourced wood, it’s a bit cold in the winter but when you have a nice fire going opening windows is a must. The river behind the cabin is great by itself its common to see fish in September as they go upstream. Bathrooms are located close to the cabin itself along with a water spigot for the non-winter months. When staying here its super quite at night and I find it super relaxing, the outside fire pit is amazing. The cabin prices did increase to $75 prior to 2020. Vehicle access ends when the sunsets or close to it for example in September it will close around 7 pm but in November it will close at 4 pm. During April and August, it will close around 8 pm (9 pm late May) all gates are marked with the gate hours. The USFS has a host cabin onsite when occupied the representative will be more than happy to unlock the gate for anyone accidentally locked in. During the winter months the gates are kept closed due to dangerous road conditions but a walk into the cabin is a great experience and the host will help you bring your belongings to the cabin during this time.

Price increased from $50 night to $70 summer 2021. Hours of access to campground seriously limited. Gate locked earlier at 08:00 PM... mid Sept locked at 7PM. NO ENTRY OR EXIT ONCE LOCKED...except by foot. Boardwalk entry closed to foot access due to Bear activity in Aug and Sept

Caveat, I didn’t camp here, although I wish I did. I just walked through after hiking Mosquito Cove. Lovely camp sites and day use areas. Very tasty water from artesian well.

Here off season and it's beautiful. If you like secluded area less than 10 mins from downtown Sitka, this is the place! There is even an artesian well that you can get fresh and clean water. It was perhaps the best water I've ever tasted.

We stayed here for about a week, 3 adults and one child. The cabin website estimate that it can sleep up 6-8 people is very generous, with the 4 of us, there was one person to a bed. Just something to keep in mind when planning a trip here. The facilities around the cabin were good, easy access to trails, bathrooms, water, etc. One weird problem was people "stealing" the well water; people who weren't campers at the facility would drive in and monopolize the well, filling up endless boxes of water bottles. Despite having the well nearby, it was always so busy, we often ended up using filtered water from the creek instead. Bears frequented the area around the cabin while we were there, and there were bald eagles, squirrels, the usual suspects. The cabin itself was comfortable and roomy for our party of four, and the adjustable windows with screens helped keep the temperature comfortable for everyone. We would definitely recommend staying here.
