Turtle Beach Campground
Overview
Turtle Beach Campground stands as a premier coastal destination on the southern tip of Siesta Key. Unlike many high-traffic commercial resorts, this county-managed facility offers a more intimate and authentic connection to the Gulf of Mexico. It remains one of the few locations in Florida where visitors can enjoy direct beach access right from the campground grounds, making it an exceptionally popular choice for those seeking a natural waterfront experience.
Location & Surroundings
Nestled between the Gulf of Mexico and the calm waters of Blind Pass Lagoon, the park occupies a unique geographical position. The environment is defined by a lush canopy of shady sea grapes and pines, providing a cool retreat from the intense Florida sun. While the sand at this end of the island is darker and more conducive to shelling than the northern beaches, the surrounding atmosphere is notably peaceful and secluded from the main tourist hubs.
Amenities & Park Features
The park provides 39 well-maintained sites that cater to both RVs and tents. Each site is thoughtfully equipped with modern essentials to ensure a comfortable stay. The facility prides itself on maintaining a clean and functional environment for all guests. Amenities include:
- Full hookups including water, sewer, and 20/30/50-amp electrical service.
- Access to climate-controlled restrooms and hot showers.
- On-site laundry facilities and complimentary Wi-Fi for all guests.
Outdoor communal areas with picnic tables and grills are also available, encouraging a friendly and social environment.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Guests can easily explore the island via the free Siesta Key Breeze Trolley, which connects the campground to the vibrant dining and shopping of Siesta Key Village. The adjacent Turtle Beach Park features a boat ramp and a kayak launch for exploring the mangrove trails of the lagoon. Beyond the sand, the cultural riches of Sarasota, including the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and the historic Ringling Museum, are just a short drive away.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is tailor-made for RVers who value a tranquil beach setting and a smaller, more community-oriented park footprint. It is ideal for nature lovers, bird watchers, and those who enjoy falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves. Because the sites are tucked into a cozy, natural landscape, it is best for travelers who prefer authentic Florida charm over the structured activities found at larger inland RV resorts.

Disappointing Restroom Situation – Not What We Expected We were very disappointed to find out after booking our stay that the campground was using temporary accessible climate-controlled portable restroom units instead of proper restroom facilities. This was never made clear in the booking process, and had we known, we might have reconsidered our plans. There were only six unisex units for the entire campground (five of them really small), which was nowhere near enough for the number of campers. By late afternoon and especially after sunset — when most people returned from the beach — the units were crowded and completely out of toilet paper. While the idea of "climate-controlled" might sound nice, it doesn’t make up for the lack of cleanliness or basic maintenance. By the end of the day, the units were in poor condition. Campgrounds should either be upfront about these kinds of temporary setups or limit bookings to match the capacity of the available facilities. This really impacted the quality of our stay. The campground is definitely small. I’d consider going back only if they add regular bathroom cabins and a proper place to wash utensils after eating. This time, we booked right by the road (the few spots available), and it really took away from the experience — you could hear all the traffic noise and see the bright lights from the street all night. If I were to return, I’d make sure to book a spot closer to the beach instead. The staff was very friendly and kind and they even called to say our spot was ready before time.

Love this place, we come here once a month. It is a small campground but love the location. It is right on the beach and the new bathrooms have air condition. There is a pretty restaurant across the street with beautiful water views. This time we took the trolley all the way to the end just to see how far it would go, It actually went pretty far. It stops at one of our favorite restaurants Marina Jack on the marina. Many stops along the way and free. Just tip the nice driver. Also stops at the public beach. They have the best afternoon sandbars w the low tide. Stay late for it.

We are definitely in love with this place. Mobile restrooms are the greatest part. Very cool, clean, fresh. Great playground for kids. Safe place with no noise.

We had a great time at the beach! We got to watch the sun set over the gulf coast and swim in the ocean. It was a beautiful evening.

If you're expecting a spacious campground with private sites this may not be for you however if you want a short walk to a beautiful beach it's worth all 4 stars. The reservation system is still cumbersome and feels like there is some favoritism to friends and locals, I get it's a county park. Enjoy it if you can get in.
