Umpqua/Eagle Rock

Overview

Nestled along the banks of the North Umpqua River, Eagle Rock Campground offers a quintessential Pacific Northwest outdoor experience. Located approximately 50 miles east of Roseburg, this destination serves as a serene gateway to the Umpqua National Forest. It is a place where the sound of rushing water replaces city noise, providing a peaceful forest setting for travelers seeking to disconnect and immerse themselves in nature’s beauty. The campground is well-regarded for its proximity to iconic geological features and lush, old-growth greenery.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated under the shadow of its namesake, Eagle Rock, a massive volcanic monolith that towers over the canyon floor. Travelers reach the site via the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway, a drive famous for its Highway of Waterfalls moniker. Surrounding the campsites are towering Douglas firs, hemlocks, and cedars that provide ample shade and a sense of deep forest seclusion. The nearby river offers refreshing views and easy access to some of the most scenic stretches of water in Southern Oregon.

Amenities & Park Features

As a traditional Forest Service site, the amenities focus on primitive charm rather than modern luxury. Visitors will find well-maintained vault toilets and access to potable water via hand pumps during the peak season. Each site is equipped with a sturdy picnic table and a fire ring for evening campfires. While there are no electrical or sewer hookups, the sites are spaced generously to ensure privacy. It is an ideal spot for smaller RVs or van lifers who value a natural atmosphere over resort-style facilities.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will find no shortage of activities within a short drive of the park. The North Umpqua Trail is accessible for hikers and mountain bikers looking to explore miles of forested ridges and river bends. A short trip up the road leads to the famous Toketee Falls and the soothing waters of the Umpqua Hot Springs. Anglers frequently visit the area for world-class fly fishing opportunities, targeting steelhead in the emerald waters of the North Umpqua River.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is best suited for nature photographers and adventure seekers who prefer a rustic, off-grid experience. It is a perfect match for RVers who enjoy dry camping and want to stay close to remote trailheads and majestic waterfalls. Families looking to teach children about forest ecology or couples seeking a quiet retreat will find the environment restorative. If you value scenic beauty and direct river access over high-speed internet and paved pads, this is your ideal Oregon stopover.

DO NOT BANK HERE if you’re a business owner. I would never attempt to bank here again, they’ll just waste your time. Since they don’t take credit applications online, I had to drive all the way out to the branch to apply for a business credit card. Spent an hour at the branch, another 30 minutes on hold waiting to be connected to their credit application line for them to tell me that they can’t issue me a credit card because they don’t service businesses without a physical location…WHAT?! I have 4 credit cards between Chase and Amex and have never ran into this issue. This is why you don't bank at this at these types of places and stick with two mentioned above.

Fellow Google’ers beware!! Save yourselves the time, money and headaches! Thank you fellow Goolge’ers and saving me many times by your trustworthy and honest reviews. Just taking the time to pay it forward. Unpqua “Bank” is literally THE WORST. E V E R. Preface, long but detailed and 100% honest review! Umpqua and especially their Grants Pass location that give out the repeatedly WRONG answers to simple bank jc questions (BofA, Chase and our several credit union accounts) ALL advised us of the actual true answers to the EXACT verbatim questions that we asked the scumbags at the GP location. There blatant scumbag’y and lazy employees hurt us financially when had they just been honest, professional and have even a tiny modicum of bank customer service knowledge that ALL of our other banks advised and guided us on (ie SIMPLE transactions, daily limits, options of transferribg funds..) literal BASIC bank customer service knowledge we wouldn’t have had the issues that should’ve never even been issues had they known literally the most basic of CS knowledge. They’re just gross. Literally just eww!!! We are so disgusted that we are happily putting out money just to assure that we have our legal attorney heavyweights, plethora of high profile connections, extensive finances and most importantly the desire to assure these scumbags don’t hurt, lie to, blatantly manipulate and steal from any other innocent and hardworking victims!!! Stay away unless you want literal idiots, liars and thieves handling your financial matters. There’s way to many actual legit and good banking choices that Umpqua is not needed!! They are literally the worst and most wasted time and energy we’ve ever been subjected to!!! WORST E V E R !!!

I had called the online Customer Service about a question for my business and they did a phenomenal job on helping me with my issue and directing me towards the closest branch. However, when I was on the phone with a representative at this location, they were impolite, gave an attitude, and hung up before I could say thank you. I understand this may be a one time thing and maybe the representative was having a bad day, but I am in utter shock this is how you handle your customers.

Great campground, with pit toilets and trash, great view of the river, but the highway is really close. We enjoyed our stay.
