What was supposed to be a birthday getaway, turned out to be a nightmare. I prepaid the campground online a few weeks in advance but was met with another $70 fee when we arrived. They gave us a spot that was entirely rock solid underneath the sand and we were unable to stake our tent or the canopy. After setting up in 108 degree heat we needed much cooling off in the water. We had to walk about a mile down the the beach which was extremely hot, windy and sandy. Making it to that beach was like walking through hell to get to heaven. The treck back to the car was also absolutely exhausting. Once we got back to our site we see that our canopy is damaged beyond repair and our tent has also been blown over. Unfortunately we just had it at that point and decided to get a hotel room. 108 degree Arizona heat with no shade was not something we intended to put ourselves through during what was supposed to be a nice vacation. Absolutely a waste of money. I’d advise an RV/camper of a sort and also note the beach isn’t close.
