The park is renowned for its hospitable atmosphere and stunning sunrises over the harbor.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the Comox-Strathcona J region on Quadra Island, the park overlooks the calm waters of Drew Harbour. The surrounding environment is characterized by towering evergreens, pebble beaches, and diverse wildlife. Visitors arrive via a scenic ferry ride from Campbell River, immediately finding themselves in a lush, tranquil setting where the mountains of Vancouver Island provide a stunning backdrop to the west. The local geography makes it a sheltered haven from harsher coastal winds, creating a peaceful microclimate for campers.
Amenities & Park Features
The campsite is equipped to handle various setups, featuring full hookup sites with electricity, water, and sewer connections for modern RVs. For guest comfort, the park provides clean washroom blocks, hot showers, and coin-operated laundry facilities. Many travelers appreciate the convenience of the on-site general store and fuel station, which are essential for island living. The layout prioritizes views, ensuring that the coastal breeze and harbor sights are accessible from many of the tiered camping levels and grassy pads.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Just a short walk away is Rebecca Spit Marine Provincial Park, a popular spot for beachcombing, picnicking, and walking along the narrow sandy hook. Water enthusiasts can enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, or salt-water fishing directly from the harbor. For those interested in local culture, the Nuyumbalees Cultural Centre is a short drive away, offering incredible insight into the history and art of the First Nations people. Hiking trails also wind through the nearby woods for those seeking inland exploration and scenic vistas.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for nature-loving families and outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy a slower, more intentional pace of life. It caters exceptionally well to boaters and kayakers who want easy water access, as well as RVers who prefer a scenic home base over a quick roadside stop. If you value quiet evenings by the campfire and waking up to the sound of lapping waves and eagle calls, this campsite is a perfect fit for your British Columbia travel itinerary.

This campsite is so gorgeous, peaceful and secluded. The place is surrounded by pebbly beach, lovely for wading, paddling, hanging out. Lots of shade, easy access to everything and kept clean & well majntained

The inner bay beach campground was very crowded, with RVs piled up one after another, offering no privacy. Access to the inner bay beach requires caution; the campground lacks clearly marked public access, and we were severely reprimanded by the campsite owner. It's essential to go to the beach facing the ocean at sunrise; you can spot active whales in the early morning. The restrooms and bathrooms aren't new, but they're well-maintained and clean.

We have been coming to We Wai Kai for 15 years. We absolutely love it. It feels like home every time we get off the ferry. Great staff, awesome camping, so peaceful and you never know what you’re going to see on Rebecca spit!!🫶🏼❤️🌴

Nice area but pricey. The only campsite around. Sites are close together. We paid $40 per night including a BS $7 pet fee for a small tent site. Showers were $1 per two minutes but were warm. Beautiful area but a cash grab.
