Westport Beach is a popular beach located in Westport, California. It is located on the Pacific Coast Highway, just south of the town of Westport. Westport Beach RV Park - Westport, CA

This is a beautiful location for an RV park though the location allows for a lot of wind.  It is an easy walk out to the beach.
Disappointed in the RV site;  they park every other site with the windshield to the trees not the ocean.  The utilities are shared between two sites so one of you has to face away from the ocean; may not be a big deal if you are in a 5th wheel or a trailer but in a motorhome with a huge windshield it is very disappointing. The staff was very friendly when we arrived.  They had a playground, volleyball; we did not use any of the offered amenities.  I would stay here again but would confirm that we could face the ocean.

Only has running water on one place
You might see a bear wondering around at night. Has cabins. Cabins are small. They have a fridge, microwave and a broom inside them. Better for rvs. Big beach. Always cold there. They have a little covienence store ther but it is open 9-6. So if you need firewood or water to drink plan ahead if you will be there after they close. Has bathrooms. Doors for toilet pretty much touch your knees when sitting down. Has a shower  a doller for 2 minutes. So bring change if u plan on showering. Staff is nice and helpful. But it really is bare bones resort. Bring what you need because it doesn't have much. I got our fire going a little to hot and had trouble putting it out due to not wanting to walk to where water was because we had seen the bear walking around. And the power has gone out on Saturday night everytime I've gone there. They have wifi. Without it you cant make a phone call or have any internet.

We stayed in tents part of the campground and seemingly in low season, so we were the pretty much the only campers on the beach and RVs lot was maybe 50% full. I can see how it can get busy and crammed in high season. It was also reasonably quiet when we visited. You can hear cars on the Highway 1 above you a little bit, but more in the RV part.
The beach has portapotty bathrooms with hand sanitizer, that were kept adequately cleaned and stocked. The running water bathroom was further away, but was also clean. The showers are coin operated which is standard for many campgrounds. The huge plus of this one that it takes 1 quarter at a time for 30 seconds showering time so you can stagger the washing process (rather than paying for 3 mins at once and scrambling to be done). Water got nice and hot after first 30 seconds.
We didn't see any bears, but we took precautions and stored away all food and removed trash promptly. (However, an accidentally discarded piece of food immediately attracted half a dozen of vultures to the beach that were landing one after another like jets, so beware).
There are signs posted around the campground regarding  the bears. It would be nice if the campground invested into actual bear boxes for food storage and got adequate trash cans. The plastic ones have locks on them which can stop small critters but not a bear if it gets its mind to it. The same applies for storing food in the cas and luckily wasn't a problem for us.
The employees were nice, but firm about enforcing the rules. They do require pets to be on leash at all times.

Pros: unbeatable views
Cons: the price seemed quite high since there are additional fees per every person and pet in the site per night.

Overall, I would recommend, but maybe not in peak season.

It’s probably nice in the summer here. In January it was so windy. Not many people at the campground and they place us far from neighbors. It was nice. They are very strict (probably charge for pets and extra people). Price wasn’t cheap and they charge for the shower. It was a cold day 38F , so the temperature in showers was the same. It was too cold for me.
Found small trail to the beach nearby but you have to walk aside the road.
As it was not much to do we left one day early. They don’t give refund for early check out.

This place was awesome. We had a lot of fun. Camped on the beach in our tents. First night there was one other person on the beach, second night we were alone. Guess that's september camping for you. Anyone saying they don't warn you about the bears must be blind because there's signs EVERYWHERE. Theres even signs that tell you what to do if you encounter one. Just gotta read, people! We asked at the little store and they told us the best option is to put all food in your car at night. Bears have never messed with cars. We did that and didnt encounter a bear on the beach at all. Also, they dont really come out until sundown so just hide most of your food by then and turn somw music on. Dont be like us and leave your JBL in a chair in the fire. Honestly, the bears are scared of you too, just be loud and make yourself bigger. Tides got high, took out our fire and almost took out one of our tents but then we built a mote. Recommend paying attention to where you place your tent. Should have backed up a little from the debris that former high tides left behind. Most of the staff was really friendly. One person in particular, Kyle was really awesome, friendly and helpful. Kinda cute, as well... in case anyone is wondering. Anyway, highly recommend, just be prepared for the usual outdoor/ocean things such as bears, tides, etc.

Where to start....
First off, the sites accomodate up to 6 or 8 people, but the fee only covers 2 people.  You WILL be scrutinized and charged for any additional guests. I dont see how this is a thing, Limits are understandable, but charging for your kids is unreasonable. Perhaps its because the sites are so close to one another they want to discourage extra people.  Next are the women manning the store.  Since they already have your money they dont seem to make any effort to be friendly and I dont remember a thank you or smile the few times we purchased ice.  Their groundskeepers, who are apparently nomads working for their stay, are particularly nosy, and if they dont see the tag in your window, they will chase you down.  Also, be prepared to lose food to bears.  This is a well known problem that they dont seem to be doing much about. There are no food lockers in the campsites, and the trash bins are tiny. I imagine fish and wildlife department wil be involved sooner or later as this is a hazard to people and the bears themselves.  The Wi-Fi is only accessible within eyesight of the store, you will notice groups of people sitting outside throughout the day struggling to get and stay on-line.
The restrooms are clean, but they charge to use the showers so bring plenty of quarters, and if you can, bring your own wood and extra ice as they tend to run out, its expensive and there are limited options nearby. Also, if you have dogs, be aware, they must remain on leash at all times, even on the beach or in the campsites and you cannot leave them in your campsite when you go to the beach. Someone will have to stay behind.
On the bright side, they have a playground for the kids which is nice and the beach is large and private.

Consider accordingly.

Beautiful campground. Everything was clean and well taken care of. Only problem is the bears. We were aware there are bears in the area just unaware of how bad. They come through camp nightly apparently and the staff seems to think it is cute. It's very un cute and a huge safety risk. They joke about being able to hand feed them as if they are a part of the attraction and eventually someone is going to get hurt. For this reason we will not be returning which is sad because it truly is a beautiful place. Please do something about the bears before something tragic happens.

Visited this campground recently and I was very impressed with everything they have to offer. The tent sites are well kept, check in was super easy, the staff was very friendly and they even have coffee in the well stocked store. What impressed me the most was the cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers, one night getting ready for bed I noticed the bathrooms were super messy which was understandable with folks wanting to wash up the day at night but by the next morning the facilities were spic and span and even smelled like bleach! I will definitely be returning since it seems difficult to find a good, clean family friendly campsite and now that I found this gem I must revisit.

This review is about sustainability only!

I know that bears are a reality, and that you want food locked away. But since there are such high-tech cans locking away trash, I wonder if there are similar, lockable cans you could dedicate solely to food waste.

For an oceanfront campground, it made me quite sad not to be able to Compost any of my food scraps. Instead, all of this just gets sent to a landfill.

It would be really cool to empower your campers to make a more environmental choice, and separate their food waste from the other trash they are creating on the premises.

I also noticed the sale of plastic bottled water in the kiosk at the entrance. I understand the need for this! And the demand for it. But I wonder if you could at least opt to sell aluminum canned water instead. By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. It just doesn’t make sense to me to sell the stuff on an oceanfront campground!

Lovely beach. Campsites spread out farthur than many other places. Nice store with good selection. On the expensive side.

We love Westport. We have only come off season to avoid crowds and it has always been nice. Staff is great and cute little store too. Big minus and reason for only 3 stars is that the showers are coin operated. Plus no heat control.. at $65 a night off season that seems cheap and unreasonable.

Love being here each time we have come. Great facilities! Always helpful and friendly service. The little store on site has just about everything needed if something was forgotten. Love being so close to the ocean. The beach is vast. It is great being here🥰😊
