Nice campground. Very clean. They definitely cater to seasonal’s. The reasons I only have it a 3 are. The pool is closed Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Thursday that I was there it was 94 degrees The Wi-Fi worked 4 out of the 7 days that I was there. The transient sites are very narrow, but pretty flat. They are great for small camper that can fit way to the back and then they seem huge. The store was closed a few days and the snack bar was never open. When I did go in the store the clerk was telling me that the new ownership doesn’t allow them to hire minors. I heard this from a few employees at the campground. Honestly I felt that was unprofessional. I was there for vacation not to provide therapy for the employees. A customer of mine once said, “Don’t make your problems mine”. I think every business should adapt that mentality. The last issue is there is no place to park a vehicle down by the lake. It just seems foolish that we have to drive down to the lake and drop the kayaks off and then bring the truck back to the campsite or the public parking lot. I only used my kayaks once because it was more of a haste than it was worth. I do think it’s a nice campground. I think there are some issues between the new ownership and the current employees. You pay a premium for this campground and shouldn’t be brought into there issues. I’m in no hurry to go back there.

I used to camp at this campground for years. Some years my family would book more than one trip per year. We will never again camp here because of an incident I need to make people aware of. We were supposed to check out on a Tuesday, but at 7pm on Sunday we were evacuated due to flooding. We took our trailer and headed home because we didn't have anywhere else to go. This was a 2.5 hour drive. The next day at 1pm we were told we could come back. I had just driven 2.5 hours with two little kids. I was not going to go back. I requested a 2 night refund for the two nights we missed. I checked the refund policy, and asking for a refund was not out of line, but they said they'd only give me one night. Some might think, "ok, they are offering you one night, you should just take that", which I would have, however they offered my friend, someone who I had booked this trip with, a full 2 day refund. All I was asking for was what they gave them. Nothing more, nothing less. I kept inquiring, and they kept pushing me off saying they needed to talk to a manager. I kept inquiring through email and through phone calls and in person. In one last attempt, I resent an email, pleading my case. I had just lost my job, and it was our last trip of the year, and perhaps my family's last trip for a long time do to my unemployment. I received this response...... "Thank you for reaching out in regard to this matter. Back on July 24th an email was sent out with information regarding your camp credit. (there was no email) A credit was issued to use during the 2023 season. This credit did expire in October of 2023. At this time we cannot issue anymore credit or refunds for the flooding." Yes a credit was issued, but they ignored me when I requested the two nights, which was the same as my friend got for the same issue. They wouldn't address it. I didn't even want the money, I would have settled for a 2 night credit towards a 4 night stay, which I would have booked on the spot. And even worse, they took the one day credit away from me as well, because it "expired" so through all the emails they ignored, and them pushing me off til a "manager" was in, they wouldn't even give me the one night. How does a refund "expire"? In the grand scheme of things, Westward Shores, does not care about my business, I am only one customer, one family that used to enjoy going there. They will be booked up season after season, and not miss a beat. They will think, "who cares about one customer" So for the people who read this, think about who you are spending your money with. Is it someone who cares? What's one extra night credit for a loyal customer to Westward Shores? It'd only cost them about $100 to do the right thing....and they refused. EDIT: After reading the response from the owner, it is clear that my statement of "they don't care about my business" holds true. As they want me to continue spending money with them, but not willing to do anything whatsoever to earn it back. I will echo my message to all of you campers, as well as campers on on social media websites. Campgrounds are great when nothing goes wrong, or when you don't need them to do anything extra, but when it comes down to it, do they really care about you when it really matters?

Our family of 5 stayed at one of the cabins for 3 nights in August. We loved the location, activities, pool, beach with snack bar and store! I would have given 5 stars but the bathroom was missing soap for all of the days of stay & often out of toliet paper. The cabin while perfect for us needed some cleaning when we arrived. We also chose not to use the a/c due to the black mildew and mold on it, thankfully it was fairly cool during our stay. Nothing that would stop us from coming back though, we look forward to coming back next summer!

This was our second time staying in a cabin at Westward shores. This time we stayed in cabin # 9, it was nice & clean upon check in, the beachfront view was beautiful, but unfortunately our beds were extremely uncomfortable. The top bunk and loft are great for children, but a little claustrophobic for adults. The golf cart is also a nice added convenience, but the one for our cabin barely moved. Overall we had a great time with family, who also rented the two cabins on each side of us. It was nice to have the Shorepoint dock for the boat as well as being able to sit around the firepit at night. I didn’t use the pools or other amenities, but my son & nephews had a great time fishing and my great nieces & nephews really enjoyed the playground, pools and tie-dyed tshirt activities.

We had a great time at Westward Shores! On our last night at bed time my children actually thanked me (with out being prompted) for taking them on this trip. They loved the lake and fishing and the pool! Very family friendly! Definitely coming back next summer!
