The perfect location, beautiful views and a reminder of how ridiculous private campgrounds can be. My husband and I are mostly CoE or state park campers but have made an exception for White River Campground 4 years in a row now. Sadly, this will be the last time we will stay there and I’ll briefly explain why. The owners and their rules are absolutely exhausting and we are just done giving them our money. As a guest at their campground you will be constantly watched as they sit waiting for you to step an inch off their strict line of numerous rules. It honestly feels like you’re waiting for the wicked witch to swoop down and point her finger in your face and scold you like a child. This is the only campsite we stay at that the owners have an annoyingly constant presence your entire stay. Very strange. My family and I are steadfast campers. We spend a lot of time at all different camp grounds around the country and have learned some places just have better vibes than others. White River Campground is one of those where the beautiful views just aren’t worth the hassle of everything else that comes with the campsite you’re at. Camping should be relaxing, not a constant worry you’re going to be confronted by the campground owners at the tiniest of infractions. Yes- the campground is nice. The shower houses are clean. But my family and I are just going to spend our time at a more laid back location when we fish The White.

We spent 4 nights there in June because our go-to campground was full. We chose White River Campground & Cabins because of their good reviews. Unfortunately, our stay could not be highly rated. To begin with, we had a terrible time trying to park our camper. As the picture shows, each campsite was perpendicular to the narrow road! That meant we had to back from directly across our campsite. Not easy when the opposite campsite is occupied! The website mentions over and over about not driving on the grass. This is impossible when the campsite driveway is at a 90 degree angle! Next, the grass had not been mowed in several days. Granted, there had been rainy weather earlier, but our campsite was not mowed the entire time we were there. Wifi was spotty. The bathhouse mentioned on their website was under lock and key. I assume one had to contact the managers to get it. The community fire pit mentioned on the website was an over-sized grill (see picture). Even though their website shows pictures of gigantic trout, there’s no where to fish from the bank. Access to the river is overgrown and dangerous to maneuver through. They advertise their pond has been repaired and is available to registered guests, but please no pets in the water. As you can see in the pictures, I wouldn’t want my pet in the muddy water, anyway. I never really understood the purpose of the pond. Lastly, no refunds are given for any reason, so we were stuck there for the entire reservation. Our neighbors next door were from out of state and this was their first time here. They had been at the campground 2 weeks and still had one week booked, but they cut their vacation short and forfeited a week's reservation cost to get out of there. I’m not sure where all the positive reviews came from. I feel we were misled by some false advertising. EDIT TO RESPOND TO OWNER'S COMMENTS: 1. Our WIFI was spotty—PERIOD! 2. Not going to defend the statement about driveways being perpendicular to the road. The photo I submitted is evidence enough. Yes, the park map shows tent sites across from our site, but there was a camper parked there with a truck in front of it when we arrived. My husband did the parking. He’s been doing it for over 15 years. 3. I apologize for the comment I made about the fire pit. I did not see it when we drove around the camp. 4. Owner said there was no mention of the pond being repaired. I am adding a screenshot of their website that proves otherwise. 5. I never said I was surprised at the refund policy. I only meant our neighbors were really dissatisfied to leave a week early, knowing they wouldn’t get a refund. BTW, we spoke with them at length EVERY day we were there. THEY HAD NO BOAT TO REPAIR! 6. Please read all the reviews for this campground. You’ll find others had some of the same experiences we had. You’ll also see that all the owner’s responses are curt and angry—not the way professional business owners should respond. “Maybe user error by not having enough practice.”

Location is good, they have a boat dock and ramp. It was a tight backing in my camper and wish the design were different to make parking easier. The staff seemed responsive to our requests. Showers have a code to get in. Wifi was OK.

I can't believe the peacefulness of this campground! Maybe I should not tell you how nice it was because then it would be crowded. We camped right on the riverside with friends in spots 7&8 and the views were amazing. Not an easy access to the water but if you're brave there is a trail down the bank although steep. Lots of shade in spots 9&10 too and more shade and fruit trees planted. The owners are helpful and kind and you can tell they take pride in their property. There is a boat dock you can fish from and a rocky area where you can get to the water at the opposite end over a small foot bridge. There is a nice playground and covered pavilion for get togethers. Just to let you know there is no pool but I don't care about amenities such as that. There is a fishing pond under construction and looks like it will be nice I highly recommend staying here for trout fishing and peace ✌🏼 Shopping for necessities is not far - Walmart in Flippin. You must also visit the park across the river!

Great location. Very well kept. My family from out of town bought a couple of campsites over the weekend and we had a blast. We did everything we were supposed to, we checked in up front as visitors, paid our visitors fees, everything was good. However, as we were packing up to leave last night, the owners stopped by our site because we evidently had too many people gathered at our site? They pulled my aunt aside and accused us of having visitors unaccounted for, not realizing we had bought two sites. Was planning on coming back to plan another get together this summer, but we will find another location. Great way to end the night for a family who were enjoying themselves. 10/10 guys. The whole situation could have been handled so much better.

We stayed for a week at this lovely campground, was very peaceful and perfectly situated on the river! Loved getting to experience the historic cotter bridge changing its light colors every night too! The park is very well kept and has a cool playground for kids and a short walking path into a woods patch!

This was a great campground! Super easy, nice & quiet. I couldn't really review the service because there was very limited contact with the campground host or staff. We had a view of the river and the bridge lit up. We also really enjoyed watching the boats & the people fishing float by. Only issue was no TP or paper towels in the ladies room anywhere to be found the day we went to leave, and the road coming In & out was a little extra bumpy. We will be coming back someday!

Very nice experience! Campsite and facilities were clean and nice, similar to that of a state park. We camped at one of the river front sites which gave us full view of the White River and at night the bridge lights up with colored lighting to add to the serenity. Only minor complaint is that with low water the boat ramp is basically unusable since the ramp is so steep. It would probably be tricky to use even with high flows since it is a really steep ramp. However, that’s really not an issue since Cotter has a public ramp right across the bridge just a minute or two away. All in all, staff were very pleasant and accommodating and we had a great experience. I’m sure we’ll be back!

Love this place. Hidden gem on the White River. Full hookups for camping. Easy access to trout fishing, lake fishing and a beautiful area to relax and watch the river run by. Owners and the folks working there (Jeanie) are wonderful! Is a ‘do recommend’!

This is our second time with our camper here and we think White River Campground is one of the best campgrounds we’ve been to. The location is spectacular, right on the White River with an amazing view of Cotter’s iconic bridge. We LOVE the train that comes by twice/day lasting just a few minutes each time. Very old timey. The campground is beautiful with mature trees, a large covered picnic area. We can’t say enough about Shelly and Mike who own and run the place. So gracious and responsive to anything we need. Service with a heart for sure. Minutes to a variety of restaurants and activities, I don’t know why you would stay anywhere else if in the Cotter, Mountain Home area. We can’t say enough and SO look forward to our third stay!

Been traveling the US in our camper and this is one of our favorites campgrounds! Sites were roomy and level. The fishing was excellent and there are easy trails for strolling nearby. The owners, Mike and Shelly are so sweet and helpful. Can't wait to go back!

I absolutely love it here. The outside area is very well kept and the cabin I stayed in was pristine. The owners and staff were incredibly friendly and the location was great. There are many hiking trails in the area, including many fishing spots right in the park.

This is a quick little stop if you need to grab some sleep. The park has full service with paved level sites. It is not a resort or campground. Do not expect any amenities. No bathrooms or showers. But a great place to hang your hat for a one night stand.
