Not great. Water in the pump is brown, when it works. River is difficult/dangerous to get to.

Very quiet campground and reasonably priced especially if you have a federal park pass. River access isn’t that great but you can get down there

The area has a magic about it. I stumbled onto it while exploring with my daughter. She's been in love with the outdoors because of places like this.

If you want a quiet campground for tents that is low key, this may be for you. Pro's: pretty drive to get there, quiet, low key. Con's: mosquitos, small sites, ? water supply. Forest service says no water available and a camping site said no potable water. There is a pump with water, though we brought our own and a filter. Sites 9, 11 could be combined for a large family. The sites are walk up, first come first served. Two trails are marked to the river though one seems to end in brambles. There is a rocky beach type area at the second trail. Two nights was about perfect. Enjoy!

A pleasant somewhat secluded meadow at a site that was originally the location of a pioneer fur-trading operation. There was a sign here many years ago that detailed the history, but it was missing during my most recent visit. Access to the Middle Fork hiking trail is available further down the primitive road beyond Sacandaga.
