Overview
Located in the heart of the Ozark Mountains, Withrow Springs State Park offers a peaceful retreat for RV travelers seeking natural beauty and quiet relaxation. Named after a local pioneer, the park is centered around a clear-flowing spring that emerges from a cave. It provides a scenic backdrop of limestone bluffs and lush hardwood forests. Whether you are passing through Northwest Arkansas or looking for a base camp to explore the region, this park delivers a classic state park experience focused on conservation and outdoor recreation.
Location & Surroundings
The park is situated just north of Huntsville, AR, along the scenic Highway 23. This location serves as a gateway to the Ozark National Forest, characterized by its rolling hills and diverse wildlife. The landscape is defined by the War Eagle Creek, which meanders through the park and provides opportunities for seasonal water activities. Travelers will find themselves surrounded by dense timber and striking rock formations that highlight the unique geology of the Arkansas Ozarks.
Amenities & Park Features
For RVers, the park features a well-maintained campground with Class AAA sites, providing full hookups including water, electric, and sewer connections. The sites are generally spacious and shaded by mature trees. Guests have access to a clean bathhouse with hot showers, ensuring comfort during their stay. Beyond the campsites, the park includes a seasonal swimming pool, tennis courts, and several large picnic pavilions, making it easy to enjoy the outdoors without leaving the grounds.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Nature enthusiasts can explore several hiking trails, such as the War Eagle Trail, which follows the creek and leads to a massive rock overhang. Anglers and paddlers often head to the creek for smallmouth bass fishing or seasonal float trips. For a day trip, the historic charm of Eureka Springs is just a short drive away, offering unique shopping and dining. Additionally, the park serves as an excellent jumping-off point for visiting the Buffalo National River or the vibrant city of Fayetteville.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for nature-loving families and couples who prefer a quiet, rustic atmosphere over a high-traffic resort. It is a perfect fit for RVers who enjoy birdwatching, hiking, and photography. If you appreciate full-service hookups in a secluded forest setting, Withrow Springs offers the right balance of modern convenience and wilderness immersion. It is particularly well-suited for those looking to escape the hustle of city life and reconnect with the natural landscapes of Arkansas.

We were here for one night, Nov. 6, so the multi-colored leaves were falling. Just incredibly beautiful. We really liked the park. It had a nice layout, nice site spacing and not at all crowded. Clean, nice bathrooms. An added plus: IT WAS A DARK SKIES CAMPGROUND!!!! It was perfect: spectacular fall colors, clear sky during the day and a supermoon at night.

On the smaller side for a State Park but absolutely gorgeous. We booked our next visit as soon as we got home.

There really wasn't much to see unless your were there for a camping and hiking experience. The park did have a swimming pool, and a ball field and basketball court, as well as numerous hiking trails.
