This place is a mostly comfy retreat in the back neck of Muskegon State Park. That being said, this place has some quirks that would be visitors should know. Check in office was hard to find. We ended up calling when we couldn't locate it. When we couldn't find it we ended up parking at the building that had the bathrooms but also had apartments with permanent tenants. The short term and tent campers are not at all separated from the long-term or RV/trailer campers. Not every campsite had a firepit. As other reviews have said, the climb to the bathroom -using the marked path - is steep. The lake used in promotional images is across the street, there is a smaller pond backed against the campground that was depleated when we visited. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The women's bathrooms were clean but missing paper towels. You can tell they've gone through renovations. Plumbing is updated and just a bit stingy. The men's room had a urine stench, but we're not dirty. (8/10) My friends and I had a fun weekend but this campground seems like it has an apartment rental, an RV park and a campsite operating on top of one another. So, for the price, you're only really paying for general location.

This campground is not kept up as implied on the website. It was in it's prime 20+ years ago. The lake front campsites are actually lily pad swamp/seasonal overflow pond. Secondary Restrooms are porta-johns. There are 'long term' sites which do not appear to be well maintained. The general 'feel' of the campground is not welcoming, inviting, nor safe. We opted to forfeit our $300+ dollars and find another campground. We seriously recommend that Rover-Pass perform an unannounced audit of the campsite during the summer and fall months.

I was shocked when we entered the park. Pretty low end. Could not find the office. It was hidden behind a large car port with lots of equipment parked there. Looked more like a work storage area. When we were directed to our site, which was supposed to be on the lake, turned out to be a swamp. The amenities were not as advertised. One good point, the bathroom/shower room had been renovated and was very nice. Lots of migrant workers used this camp as home. We will not be back.

It was a pretty good place. The shower facilities were very clean and nice. And Christie is amazing! She took such good care of me and my items I kept leaving in the shower. The only complaint I would have is for grassier camp site. Sand was horrible. Clean out of everything. All around an A!

Not made clear that the bathrooms are porta pots other than one that was too far away from our campsite to use unless we drove there. And the porta pot was not cleaned out so was very smelly and gross .

Campground I would say needs some TLC, Nice and convenient across from the beach that was nice. But overall didnt have any issues while staying.

We had a good overall experience at this campsite thanks to the incredibly friendly host and the dog-friendly atmosphere — our pet loved it here! The washrooms were impressively clean, which was a big plus. However, the campground itself was not maintained at all. The grounds looked unkept, with overgrown areas and scattered debris in some spots. Finding the campsite markings was also quite difficult, especially when arriving later in the day — better signage would go a long way. Despite these issues, we still enjoyed our stay and appreciated the warm hospitality. With some maintenance improvements, this place could be a fantastic spot for campers and their furry friends.

I reserved a campsite by "the lake". It's a mosquito in fested swamp. As soon as the sun started to set you couldn't be outside. Also watch for ticks, found several. Would not recommend this place if you have a camper over 25 feet. It's very hard to move around once you're in there. The only thing positive about this place is the owner/people that work there. All very nice people.

Didn't even put up the tent. Parked the truck and didnt even know where to put the tent. Too small of a site. An insane amount of bugs the moment we stepped out. Looks run down. We booked another campground and left before we unloaded the truck. Told we would be getting a call from the owner and still never have. Guess they're planning on keeping our money for the 4 nights we booked.

Not as advertised, not even by a long stretch. The lady who checked us in was super friendly; that was the last fully positive thing I have to say about this place. The pictures on the website are of the lake across the street. The campground itself is on the "shores" of a mucky, mosquito-INFESTED swamp. The playground equipment is ancient, and the stuff of nightmares. As if Stephen King designed it in the 1960s and never looked back. My kids came back bearing handfuls of broken glass to throw away. The trip to the bathroom/shower facilities is not for the faint of heart, or for anyone with any type of physical disability. The walk is STEEP and sketchy. No steps, no handrails, just a sandy 45-degree slope. The bathrooms themselves are decent, except you can't regulate the temperature of the shower water (spoiler alert: it's cold) and there's no shelving to put your stuff on. On the bright side, it's a quick walk to Wolf Lake (across the road from the campground), which is clean and has a nice beach.

Sites are large and every other site is a pull in allowing friends to be door facing. Women’s bathroom recently remodeled. Lake is not anything like shown in photo and deer flies were really bad. Beach across street was nice but campground needs some work as a lot of stuff laying about in clear site.

This is the WORST CAMPGROUND ON EARTH!! I have one star because there is not a zero star option! From the time I made my reservations I should have canceled and went elsewhere! First they made my reservations for the wrong weekend, then when they fixed the date they double charged my charge card. They said they could accommodate our camper (30 ft) they put us in a spot that was so dangerous to get into and out of, very scary!! The roads are difficult to navigate and the terrain is dangerous. Most of the campsites are rented out seasonally to “homeless people”. The seasonal campers NEVER MOVE THEIR CAMPERS, they live in them year round! Every site has junk cars and broken down junk at them and they are FILTHY AND OLD!! There are not many sites for campers for daily rental, the one we had had broken glass, trash, empty cans and mold on the ground. The seasonal neighbors had their electric plugged in to our electric post and we had to wait to plug in until they brought down an adapter so both campers could be plugged into the same box, very unsafe I would imagine !!The mosquitoes are the worst I have ever seen as they do not spray and the muck filled lake is right there. We had to stay covered in mosquito spray the whole weekend and my family and grandchildren were still covered in mosquito bites!! The photos show sandy beaches and a beautiful lake!! FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!! Every single thing in this place has been let go! The bathrooms are DISGUSTING and that is being nice!! They do NOT CLEAN THEM AT ALL!! There is NO ONE working at this campground doing anything to keep it up! If I am being honest, I was afraid for my safety initially, but later found that the permanent resident campers were VERY Nice! These owners need to STOP FALSE ADVERTISING!! This is not a campground for recreational campers and the pictures are from 20 years ago or more. CAMPERS BEWARE, stay here at your own risk!!

Every person we encountered that worked here was so kind. Our spot was spacious & had a really cute view. Very close to Sunset Beach which was a nice perk. We brought our kayaks so having 2 places to go so close by was great. We were told there were nature trails but didn’t get a chance to check it out. The site itself, kind staff, & proximity to water was worthy of 5 stars. The bathrooms were pretty bad though, I do think there was someone trying to keep them clean but other campers must have been contributing to them being pretty gross. For anyone with bathrooms in their camper, this would be a great place to book! Especially for the pricing, very inexpensive.
