Woolly Hollow

Overview

Woolly Hollow State Park offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of the Ozark foothills. Centered around the sparkling 40-acre Lake Bennett, this park provides a classic Arkansas outdoor experience. It combines historical significance, having been constructed originally by the Works Progress Administration and Civilian Conservation Corps, with modern recreational facilities that make it a favorite for regional travelers seeking a quiet, scenic escape into the woods. The park is well-regarded for its preservation of the natural landscape while providing comfortable camping facilities.

Location & Surroundings

Located just north of Greenbrier, the park is nestled within a lush, wooded valley that feels worlds away from the city. The landscape is defined by rolling hills and dense hardwood forests that provide excellent shade and privacy for campers. Its proximity to Highway 65 makes it easily accessible for those traveling through Central Arkansas, yet the unique topography ensures it remains secluded enough to offer a genuine sense of solitude and natural beauty away from the bustle of traffic.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground features 30 Class AAA sites equipped with water and 50-amp electric hookups, catering well to modern RV needs. RVers will appreciate the level asphalt pads and the availability of a convenient dump station on-site. The park also boasts a seasonal snack bar, a designated swimming beach, and hot showers located in well-maintained bathhouses. For those looking to get on the water, there are rentals available for kayaks, pedal boats, and canoes to explore the quiet, motor-free lake.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts can tackle the Enders Fault mountain bike trail, which offers over nine miles of diverse terrain and technical challenges. Fishing for bass, catfish, and bream in Lake Bennett is a popular year-round pastime, while the Huckleberry Nature Trail provides a shorter, scenic walk for those seeking a slower pace. Beyond the park gates, visitors can explore the local shops in Greenbrier or take a short drive to Conway for expanded dining, shopping, and local entertainment options.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for families and nature lovers who prefer a smaller, more intimate camping environment over busy commercial resorts. It is particularly well-suited for those who enjoy water-based recreation in a quiet setting, as the lake's motor restrictions keep the environment incredibly peaceful. Because of its serene atmosphere and well-spaced sites, it is a top choice for weekend explorers looking to reconnect with the outdoors while still enjoying the convenience of reliable utility hookups.

This small park has full hookups at all sites and sites are paved. It also has a beach area with pavilion, newer Visitor Center, trails with some new bridges and a lot of trees. A few sites even overlook Lake Bennett. But, many sites are very unlevel including ours, #8. It was about 4 1/2" off and it took a lot of maneuvering to correct this. Our site had more than the usual amount of debris that we picked up. Campers, please don't litter! I'm glad we were able to visit this lovely park!

Great lil spot! Clean and friendly, nice camp areas with running water on the lots, each with fire pits, tent pads and a picnic table. Lots of wood available to cut for a fire and beautiful views of the lake. I would recommend packing bug spray though! Also, there's volleyball and basketball areas so bring a ball!! :)

Great little swim spot, friendly staff on the lifeguard stand, and in the concession! The food is awesome and the prices are reasonable. They offer peddle boats, and kayaks for rent (and a launch if you have your own kayak/canoe) and the park has lovely trails for walking or mountain biking. The parking is ample and they have campsites/RV spaces as well! Be sure to visit the Visitor Center, they have a little shop that's fun to enjoy.

Enjoyed a warm, sunny day at the swim beach swimming and paddle boating. Learned about the history of the Wooly family that the park is named after.

We had fun! Free to get in. Free WIFI! There’s space to kayak, a swimming area roped off, fishing is good, several people camping (tents), and family friendly. The water is dark and murky —so didn’t swim. There’s sand in the swimming area and kids were having a ball. Bathrooms. Trails. Kayak kiosk. Cell reception is spotty. Great little State Park.
