Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort
Overview
Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort offers a sprawling 4,000-acre mountain retreat located on the eastern edge of Zion National Park. This destination operates as a full-service resort rather than a simple stopover, blending the rugged beauty of the Utah high desert with modern comforts. Visitors enjoy a mountain plateau setting that provides a distinct contrast to the deep canyons below. It is an ideal basecamp for travelers who want to immerse themselves in outdoor adventure without sacrificing essential conveniences.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in Orderville, UT, the resort sits at an elevation of approximately 6,500 feet, offering cooler summer temperatures than the main canyon floor. The property is bordered by the national park, providing direct access to some of the area's most iconic landscapes. The surroundings are dominated by towering Ponderosa pines and open meadows, creating a peaceful atmosphere that feels worlds away from the crowded shuttle lines found at the park’s south entrance.
Amenities & Park Features
The RV park section of the resort accommodates various rig sizes with full hookup sites and pull-through options. Beyond the basics, guests have access to a massive double-tiered pool, hot tubs, and a dedicated recreation barn. Practical features include laundry facilities and clean shower houses. For those seeking active fun, the resort provides a climbing wall, mini-golf, and a bungee trampoline, ensuring there is never a dull moment between hiking excursions.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
This location is the primary gateway to the Observation Point trailhead, which offers one of the most famous panoramic views of Zion Canyon. Travelers can also explore nearby Bryce Canyon National Park or the Coral Pink Sand Dunes within a short drive. On-site, the resort coordinates guided Jeep tours and canyoneering adventures, making it easy to explore the backcountry. Horseback riding and stargazing are also popular ways to spend time on the plateau.
Who This Park Is Best For
This resort is perfect for active families and adventure seekers who want a comprehensive vacation experience in one location. Because of the extensive on-site programming and amenities, it is best suited for those planning a multi-day stay rather than a quick overnight. It is also an excellent choice for big-rig travelers looking for a spacious environment that serves as a quiet alternative to the busier campgrounds located inside the national park boundaries.

So glad we found this little hidden gem to take us back to our childhood camping days. The log cabin was perfect. So cozy for the 30 degree November nights w/ heaters inside. Only downside was the bathrooms. Totally okay with shared use! It’s what we booked of course, but the showers were just dingy and gross. Hard to feel clean after. Won’t go into detail because it’s whatever. The resort property was very accommodating. Breakfast, lunch &dinner and great coffees. Staff were all so so nice. Hot tub was such a plus. Loved the relative distance to Zion park. So close! Great experience overall.

Our family had an incredible stay at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort! We stayed in one of the covered wagons, which was such a fun and unique experience—especially for the kids. Between mini golf, swimming in the pool, and playing ping pong in the recreation room, there was never a dull moment. We also ate at the on-site restaurant, and my husband absolutely loved the pizza! The resort had a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, and the location near Zion National Park made it even more special. While a few areas could use some updating, like the pool and shower facilities, it didn’t take away from how much we enjoyed our time there. The overall experience was truly unbeatable—from the beautiful setting to the variety of activities for all ages. We left with great memories and can’t wait to come back. Five stars from us!

had a wonderful time here! The ranch is gorgeous, the staff is fantastic and it was just a great experience. we upgraded last minute to a cabin suite which includes private bathroom and TV. They have good wifi all over the park (cell signal was non existent thru Verizon). Onsite food options are also good, coffee was great. Beds very comfortable after a day of hiking. Lots of activities included with your stay. Would book again

I really loved this property! The location was great, and it’s truly a gorgeous place to stay. The property was clean, well-kept, and had a lovely view at all times of the day. The amenities were great, my favorites were the pool, spa, and shower rooms. The cowboy cabins are also a very affordable option, which I appreciated. That said, my stay wasn’t perfect. When I arrived, the heater in my Cowboy Cabin had been left on from the previous guest or cleaning staff, so the entire cabin was uncomfortably warm. The ceiling fan barely worked, which made cooling off difficult. The beds were very uncomfortable and the pillows thin and flimsy. I don’t expect luxury, but the comfort level was disappointing. The shower rooms also lacked shampoo or conditioner, which wasn’t a huge deal but would’ve been a nice touch if provided. Overall, I’d love to come back because the property itself is beautiful and has great potential, but I hope to see some improvements in comfort and amenities before I do.

Had a fantastic stay here at this resort! Ease of checking in was great and the Chuck Wagon was such an awesome highlight of my solo road trip. AC and WiFi worked great in the wagon. Views were gorgeous and HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Stargazing Tour they offer! Wow what an amazing treat that was and very affordable! The bathrooms/shower area need some TLC but would recommend this place! Would stay here again!
