Anchorage Ship Creek RV Park: Urban Camping in Anchorage, AK

I like this campground a lot. Extremely easy to find and get to coming from Fairbanks.  Downtown but doesn’t feel like it in the campground because it is ringed by trees and very private. No street noise at all. There are indeed some trains, but I enjoyed them, and very few planes. The seagulls were noisier than both! I originally booked one night but stayed a second night because I enjoyed the convenience of the location so much and the overall experience was positive. Would definitely return.

We rented an RV from Shop Creek RV and they were fantastic! The RV was in good shape and they had it fully prepared with linen, towels, toiletries, and kitchen pots, pans, and utensils. The staff were very kind and easy to work with. They were thorough in preparing us and answered any questions we had. I highly recommend using them for your RV rental.

Nice RV park near downtown Anchorage.  Can walk to downtown attractions, shopping, and restaurants. Near the train station and can get noisy with the trains.

Easy check in, good location close to town.  Train runs right behind campsite, but that was not a problem as they stop in the evenings and don't start too early in the morning. Close walking distance to the river.  Really enjoyed this campsite.Check in staff were really nice and helpful. Showers are free and hot. Laundry worked well.

Lots of train activity all night, every 2 hours they blow their horns when leaving the yard and crossing the roads. Wouldn’t be to bad if it was just train noise but the horn’s are deafening. Also management wouldn’t accommodate our itinerary change so we paid 89 for a night we didn’t stay there.
Also note there’s no camp fires or charcoal bbq’s allowed, might as well stay in a parking lot somewhere.

Outstanding!  Great location to launch in Alaska with your RV.  Easy shopping and restaurant access.  Well maintained and managed.  We departed from here to tour the Kenai Peninsula and returned 10 days later to decompress before heading home.

This campground has all the hookups and the grounds are extremely well kept up . If you have children they are strict about the 5 mile a hour rule . Showers and restrooms are clean they are key code so only registered campers can use. And plenty of washers and dryers key code also . The people are great . I highly recommend.

Hello travelers! I am working at this RV park for the summer so I figured I’d give everyone updated information.

Pull through sites (limited) - $89
Back ins - $79
Dry sites - $59
Shower only - $10

We have brand new washers and dryers $4 each

Spots are generally maxed at a week as we are built for tourists not long term stays. Good sam discount of 10%

The good - we are only about a half mile walk to downtown where you can do some shopping and visit really great restaurants. They also have bike rentals

The bad - yes, we are right along a railroad and trains do come through frequently. There are also a lot of homeless in the area, but that seems unavoidable if you’re going to be anywhere in Anchorage. There haven’t been any wandering into the park and/or creating unsafe situations for guests since I’ve been here. All of our staff also lives on site and we feel very safe. There is security hired by the railroad that come through almost daily. The sites aren’t huge but we can pretty much guarantee that you don’t have neighbors in the sites directly next to you unless you come in the busiest time (July/August).

This is a basic campground. The staff is very nice and accommodating.  The railroad does run very close to the campground but they di not run at night and the noise was not the intrusive. The location is very convenient to downtown Anchorage.  We were there 7 nights and felt safe the entire time.

This RV Park sits in the downtown area of Anchorage. There is plenty of noise from the passing train, whose tracks are literally feet from the entrance to the RV park, plane noise because it’s directly in the flight path of the local airport and the cacophonous fighting of the seagulls that nest nearby.
This all makes for a less than peaceful stay. When the office closes at 5 PM, there is no security of any kind or anyone keeping an eye on the hijinks in the park itself.
It is full of rented RVs that come and go at all hours. The clientele here think nothing of making noise late into the night because there’s no one here to stop them.
Cars and trucks cruise in and out of the park at will. It is unknown as to whether they have any business being there or not.
The bathrooms are not clean and the park is not well-maintained overall.
Everyone is packed in pretty tightly here, so I am writing this review as the people next to me have an argument complete with slamming doors at 11pm.
If you want a good nights sleep, don’t stay here.

Nice RV site. Was not impressed with being placed in an area too small for our RV. Almost incurred some serious damage to the undercarriage.  Moved to a soot mire conducive for our RV. Nice facilities

Excellent “Alaska Style” RV Park!  A taste of Alaska right in the city!  Pros: Gravel Spaces with full hookups; quiet; safe park; walking distance to ANC (go out the back of the park); clean showers & laundry; friendly and helpful staff; security comes through several times a day. Sometimes you get to see Alaska wildlife (bear & moose).Cons: Right by train tracks (short loud trains twice a day); occasional jet noise from air force base.
The pros definitely outweigh the cons!

We found this gem of an RV park when we showed up at another park nearby and were horrified with the facilities. I called the office and was immediately taken care of....the gentleman who answered was patient but efficient. The office had just closed but he left us with paperwork to get us a spot for the night and waited for us to arrive to ensure we had everything we needed. Clean restrooms and showers, close to downtown and quiet. I would gladly stay here again.

The location of Anchorage Ship Creek RV Park was more than a plus; it was our top reason for choosing it! My wife and I could walk out of our camper and it would just take 10-12 minutes before we were smack in the middle of downtown. Our neighbors had to park pretty close to us, but they were pleasant and friendly people who actually ended up recommending a few trails for my wife and I to hike - if you enjoy hiking and plan to do any in your travels, Anchorage Ship Creek RV Park is a must-stay! - Review provided by RV Park Recommendations & Reviews Facebook Group
