Base Camp Family Campground

This was our first time at the Base Camp, and we WILL be back. The rest/shower rooms were immaculate! Much cleaner and more roomy than other campgrounds. The super-wide sites were a welcome change too! Even thought the camp was quite full, we didn’t hear hardly anyone else for the duration of our stay. Thanks for having a great place to be!

This campground was the perfect spot for our trip to the Sand Dunes. It was only about a 23 minute drive from camp. The shower house was so nice and clean. The views from camp were beautiful. The RV spots were huge so that’s a big plus!

Great spot when traveling thru Colorado and near Great Sand Dunes NP. Sites are large with lots of space between each camper. Host was very helpful during our stay. Facilities are very clean as well.
Close to Alamosa and what the twin has to offer is an added plus.

Our experience was similar to other positive reviews. Perfect base camp for the area. No frills, but the friendly staff does an excellent maintenance job. Sites are perfectly level, largest sites we've ever seen (RVing sine 2011 across the country). Very nice and clean bathrooms and shower. Some road noise during the day, but mostly quiet at night. Good communication from host regarding check in details, maintenance, and a brief power outage during our stay. Definitely recommend!

This campground lives up to its name. Perfect location outside of town but close enough to Alamosa for supplies, gas, or meals. Shot 30 minute drive to Great Sand Dunes Visitors Center. Don't forget to hide Zapata Falls before the park entrance.  The grounds are level sites.  The bathrooms are like a spa. Coin laundry is very reasonably priced.
Great place!

We really enjoyed our stay. 360 views of mountains, the staff were attentive, kind, and happy to answer any questions, even delivered our firewood and packages to our site! The sites were very spacious and had FHU. We enjoyed walking the trail around the campground too. Grocery stores and restaurants were only 15 min away and Sand Dunes were only 30 min away. Laundry room was in great working order, affordable, and clean and there were even vending machines. We had a perfect stay!

Very nice and clean RV park with full hookups, leveled big spots, picnic tables and fire rings. Good Verizon and T Mobile. The laundry room and showers are the cleanest I have seen in a long time.  The check in process is great and you have all the information provided by email.  30 min drive to hot springs and Great Sand Dunes NP. Amazing view of the mountains all around.

Their campground is very quiet, the laundry and restrooms are large, clean, and nicely decorated. They play nice music in there too. Highly recommend. It is a nice easy drive to the Sand Dunes from there as well.

This is a great affordable clean campground. We will definitely come again if we pass by! Great location and very nice staff! 5 stars

Base Camp is a true gem! We arrived on a Sunday and were in awe of the scenery, 360° mountain views with 14er Blanca right in front of us. The RV spots are huge, spacious, and clean - you aren’t right on top of your neighbors here. We did meet some neighbors and everybody was friendly; just a great vibe here. The bathhouse facility is the best I’ve seen at any campground; four private bath/shower rooms with small touches to make it feel like home. Excellent water pressure and temperature. And always incredibly CLEAN! 4 coin-operated washer/dryers worked great to wash the campfire out of our clothes. We work remotely, and the camp WiFi was able to support all of our Zoom meetings and video streaming demands without a blip - a first for any campground I’ve been to!

We did the sand dunes, only 25 minutes away. We did Alamosa, less than 10 minutes down the road. We enjoyed day trips to Joyful Journey Hot Springs (50 minutes) and Crestone (1 hour). This place is a quick drive from anywhere you want to be in the San Luis Valley.

What really made this camp exceptional was our camp host, Josh. He was incredibly communicative and responsive, and accommodated two separate requests to extend our stay and keep our spot. He rented us a sand sled for cheaper than the Sand Dunes rental places, and genuinely wants campers to have the best time at his campground. Thanks again Josh, can’t wait to come back!

We stayed here a few nights and wish we had more time but the weather interfered and we got there two days late. Great location and very clean. Views were great and the camp host were very kind. The facilities, showers, bathrooms, laundry were all very clean and well maintained. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend!! Quiet and very large sites.
