Chicot Ville Platte is a small town located in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana. It is situated on the banks of the Bayou Chicot, a tributary of the Atchafalaya River. The town is known for its Cajun culture, and is home to a variety of restaurants, shops, and other attractions. The town is also home to the Chicot State Park, which offers camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities. The town is also home to the annual Chicot Festival, which celebrates the town's Cajun heritage.

Chicot

Very nice state park.  Staff was very helpful, facilities at the campground were clean and well-maintained.  Beautiful nature.  The only problem we had was loud music.  One family rode around in their golf cart constantly blasting rap music and the camper across from us assumed we all wanted to hear their country music station, commercials and all. Nevertheless, I really liked the park and would definitely come back.

A give two Stars because the view is absolutely beautiful and the location of the cabin is perfect. We were in cabin 14. Do not go here expecting to have what you need in the kitchen at all. There's an oven but it's not one single pan to put into the oven. There is a can opener but it is broken so I went to my daughter's cabin her cat opener was broken went to my son's cabin and his cat opener was broken. There is one garbage bag, be sure to bring your own. If you look up and look on the pink painted part by the kitchen in the ceiling it has about 2 inches of dust and plenty of spiders and spiderwebs. Rotting baseboards in the bathroom. The floor in the bathroom is so soft I was worried that bigger heavier people may fall through because it is rotten. My son's cabin didn't even have a frying pan. Oh not to mention Wi-Fi not working and I was told that it said it on the website that I should have went look on the website. I put these cabins a year ago before coming. I had no need to go on the website. The dock and the railing is in desperate need of sanding and refinishing. Everybody had splinters either from sitting down on the dock or leaning on the railing. All the blinds are broken and there is no way to close them, open them, or adjust them. There was no hand soap in the dispenser in the kitchen by the sink. Completely empty. For the price I would think that someone would at least clean the cabins. The kitchen table it's so sticky that a piece of paper stuck to it and ripped when I had to take it off of the table. The table probably needs to be refinished. All I can say is shame on the people responsible for those cabins. They have so much potential to be what is presented to be on the website.

We stay in the cabins at Chico two weekends a year, and it is a highlight of the year for our family.  We love to fish, canoe, hike, or just sit in the rocking chairs on the screened porch.

Beautiful State Park.Needs some attention in some areas.Picnic tables are kinda rotten, roads are a little rough.
Beautiful Arboretum!

Dancing through the maze of cypress and Tupelo trees in my canoe was magical. The camp facilities were adequate and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Another great time with family and friends.  Peaceful country living. Cabins are nice and roomy, great for retreating. Happy birthday to my brother n law.....54 through the 🚪 🎂💪🏾⚜️❤️

Was absolutely stunning! Such a peaceful experience. We did all the trails and backbone trail was our favorite by far. We saw deer, snakes, birds, and snapping turtles.

We happened to reserve a fabulously private site on C loop, but the roads were horrific with tons of pot holes. Surprisingly the staff were not very friendly. We were surprised as we have encountered southern friendliness everywhere else. The kayaking is fabulous. There are a lot of bass boat people fishing. The splash pad was great to cool off after kayaking. The arboretum is pretty. The north campground seems much older and less occupied. The bathrooms are old and need to be updated. The camp host Jeff was the friendliest person we encountered. The sites have only electric and water, but there are 2 dump stations as you leave the south campground. You have to watch the fire ants. The cabins on the water look so romantic. We saw an alligator 🐊 at the bridge where everyone goes fishing. There is a great market 2 miles south of the park which also has gas. The town of Ville Platte is also nearby.

Just spent 2 weeks here y'all this is one large Park it has 2 boat launches two fishing piers North and South camping areas splash pad for the kids trails for the kids it has a Nature Center we were on the north side was not very busy the two weeks we were there very quiet Campground host was very nice kept checking on us two make sure everything was good restroom in shower was kept very clean only downside for me the fishing wasn't very good while we were there maybe I'll do better next time cuz I would come back

Such a beautiful place. $3.00 per person to get in. Watch the wild life or listen to the birds, or camp out. It's so peaceful out there. Lots of trails, love the pier, walking out on to the lake. mother nature at her finest, just breath taking.

What a fantastic park (at least in the non-mosquito season).  We spent 4 days here in January.  Pleasant weather.  Incredible hiking trails, and phenomenal cabins on the water.  The arboretum really is the icing on the cake.  Bathhouses were clean and well maintained, although I don’t think any had laundry (although I could have been mistaken).  They also have about 20 miles of backpack trails with 6 (or 8?) remote primitive campsites.  Not sure this would be a good place in the summer months: very hot, humid, and I’m sure lots of mosquitoes.  But in the “off-season” months, a really great place to visit.

Wonderful place.  Bathrooms and showers clean.  The camp spots are very nice as well.  The people are wonderful.
The Arboretum was such a nice easy walk.  The floating boardwalk was very nice.
We stayed a couple of extra nights for all of these reasons.  Relaxation at it's very best!

Can I leave my boat in the water overnight if camping at the state park?
