My son and I stayed here to do some stargazing at the Mesquite Flat sand dunes (which is only a 5 minute drive to the dunes). The rooms were clean and the air conditioning worked, but it wouldn't go lower than 72°, which was still comfortable enough. We ate at the restaurant the hotel had and my son liked his burger and my salad I ordered was great. Overall, this place is decent and the employees are very friendly and helpful, I would stay here again in the future.

We stayed in the RV park during the summer. One night the NPS service had scheduled blackout to work on the lines and did not tell the hotel until the last minute so they couldn't warn us. Due to the heat we would not have been able to stay in the RV. The staff was extremely helpful and put us in the hotel for the night. They were very accommodating for us. The hotel itself is comfortable and clean. The pool is nice and was refreshing even when it was almost 120 outside. The restaurant food was very good and the staff was very friendly.

Loved it! This place is a older place but very well maintained! Rooms were excellent! Loved the local people especially the lady across the street at the General Store who helped me find aspirin and even offered to go home and bring me some back if needed! Me and several others enjoyed walking out in the parking lot and looking at the dark sky "that God made" for to enjoy...the arm of the Milky Way was even visible! So beautiful!

With recently renovated rooms and restaurant, this was a very nice stay. The room was clean, great bathroom setup (separate toilet/ shower from sink, water controls were great), spacious, and parking right in front of the room. You're about 1-2 miles from the dunes here and it's at the junction to go either to the northern or western side of the park. The breakfast buffet was great and dinner was quick and easy (no reservations required). Being across the street from a gas station and convenience store/gift shop was also a plus. The only criticism would be the thin walls (we can hear the conversations outside and next door) and I wish the beds were a bit more comfortable (a little firm, but that's just my opinion- my husband liked the bed firmness). Overall, this was a good temporary 'home' base. Look up at night (maybe park in the dunes lot) to see more stars than you've ever seen.

While this hotel is not upscale or fancy, these rustically charming, unpretentious accommodations are the least expensive of the three venues in the Park that are not campgrounds. That said, Stovepipe provides a clean, comfortable, and friendly place to stay while inside the park that is literally within 5 minutes to Mosaic Canyon and Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes. Additionally, the staff are friendly and helpful (see below). Rooms are clean and simple; ours had a refrigerator. Most rooms are within a one minute walk to all available amenities, including the fire pit, pool, ice machine, restaurant and bar. There is a general store across the street that stocks basic food items while the restaurant serves good food and is hosted by a friendly and efficient staff. The real star of the Stovepipe Wells is the exceptional service provided by the front desk. We were greeted by Chris when we checked in who went out of his way to make our visit to Death Valley an exceptional one. He is very knowledgeable about the park and has great ideas about what to see and do while visiting; he even went so far as to design and create an itinerary for us to follow with printed, detailed maps and information on what and when to visit different parts of the park. As our visit coincided with the aftermath of a rare rainfall in the valley, Chris' guidance helped us avoid the road closures while still capturing the "must see" sights as well as some of the lesser known, "off the beaten path" gems. Chris' insider tips really helped us optimize our time and enjoy our visit. If you are visiting Death Valley and want some insider tips and guidance to maximize your experience, including hikes, sunrises, sunsets and other activities, I highly recommend staying at Stovepipe Wells and ask for Chris at the front desk when you arrive. His up-to-minute knowledge of the park is invaluable and his enthusiasm is contagious!

This motel - cannot be called a hotel by any stretch of imagination - is centrally located to DVNP and everything good about it pretty much ends there. The room we stayed in felt like a dungeon. The room was clean but otherwise less than basic - no water or coffee/tea maker provided, the shower was some old stone/tile that looked dreary. The “blanket” was cheap felt material. They don’t even consider letting check-ins earlier than 4pm based on availability, which for us led to an entire line of people literally out the door to check in all at the same time. We waited about 20 mins in line just to check in. They had a coffee maker in the reception for people checking out early - not great coffee, but hey, it’s coffee and was the only “complimentary” amenity they offer guests. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The only great thing about this place is location. This entire lodge could use a massive refresh. Everything was rather stale and out dated. They also did not service our rooms during the 3 days we stayed there. The attached restaurant was also just ok. Overall, for the rather pricey experience, I expect better quality.

We enjoyed our time here. Nice place to stay and well taken care of property for such a remote location. We stayed in one of the Deluxe Dune View rooms (the east facing side of the Road Runner Building) and loved it. The view from just outside the room was amazing! Had nice meals in the Badwater Saloon (servers Paul and John are great!) and enjoyed breakfast in the Toll Road Restaurant (breakfast is buffet style only and a very reasonable price of $13.99 per person). The campground and general store are across the street. Amazing sky viewing at Death Valley. Sunrises and sunsets. Check out the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes near the hotel. Great night sky viewing there. We were there during the full moon and it was so picturesque with the moonlight glowing on the dunes. We will need to go back during a new moon to view the Milky Way (with the full moon it was too bright to see that). This hotel location was also great for visiting the Wildrose Charcoal Kilns, Eureka Mine and the Mosaic Canyon hike (epic hike!). Hotel is also close to the North Highway to reach Ubehebe Crater (that road was unfortunately closed during our visit). Plenty of other places to check out from this area, especially if you have a high clearance vehicle or rent a jeep. We only had a standard rental car so missed out on a lot of things. So that just gives us an excuse to return in the future to see more remote highlights of the park! :) Enjoy your time at this special place. Very quiet, peaceful, remote and incredible panoramic views. Say hi to Larry the Lizard for me who hung out near room #223 all the time! :)

This property is located inside the NP which was the main reason why we chose to stay here. We had to wait for about 10 minutes to be checked in as there was no one at the counter. The staff were quite welcoming. They got us checked in quickly, handed us over the towels required and directed us to our room. There is a nice old lodge look and feel to the property and the room. Rooms are simple and basic yet clean and comfortable, considering this is an old property. The air-conditioning worked fine, thankfully. The hotel reminds the visitors about sustainability, and requests that water may please be conserved. One should not miss getting out of the room and trying to catch the night sky and identify the heavenly bodies and constellations. Just be sure to be safe (possibly not alone) though, as a couple of minutes of walk from the village can get you to a completely dark place. One of the park attractions, Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes - are nearby. While they have some EV chargers near the visitor center (about 12 miles away), we went to Beatty (30 miles away) to charge ours because of the confirmation about the presence of superchargers.

We found 16 (!) cockroaches in the room. They said its normal due rain. In the next room we got only one cockroach, which is a huge improvement and in their eyes a clean room. I assume the first room wasn't cleaned at all, you cannot oversee that much cockroaches. Pool is currently out of order and shower water is hot (because water pipes gets heated due high desert temperature). It would be possible to cool the water but they don't do that. So no cooling possibilities after a hot death valley trip. Towels were also missing. They gave us 15 bucks discount, which is too less in my view. Location is good and nearby restaurant also.

The hotel enjoys a fantastic location. Breakfast was superb – at only $13.99 it felt like an incredible bargain and was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is equally worth recommending for dinner. Rooms were simple yet very clean and comfortable. It was also clear that the hotel pays attention to sustainability, which is a big plus. The air conditioning was pleasantly quiet. Above all, the staff were outstandingly friendly and welcoming.

Amazing place in Death Valley! Was very happy with the room, excellent large comfy bed, good shower, good air-con (essential with temperatures of 114°F/46°C!), fridge, chair and desk and armchair. Very friendly and helpful people at reception (especially Christopher). All in all, very good value for where it is.

A great place to stay in Death Valley! We highly suggest the owners get clocks in every room as we unknowingly checked out TWO HOURS EARLY because NV phones time change for no reason (they knew this at check in and told us so, which is why I suggest local accurate clocks in every room like a normal hotel has!) We were accidentally rushing to breakfast for this reason. The breakfast was large buffet style food with special items like gluten free Udi bagels up for grabs. The actual restaurant food for dinner was beyond phenomenal! Largest salad I've ever had, so delicious. Friendly staff all around. Don't miss the trail directly behind you! Safe travels.

Great spot. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and everything you really need. We especially appreciated that the facility was kept more natural with it's landscaping. This is in contrast to the other options around Furnace Creek with actual grass lawns and gardens with large trees. We feel these waste a lot of water in the desert, and we felt we were being more environmentally responsible staying in Stovepipe. We also really liked the gift shop, which had some genuinely nice stuff. Whoever does the graphic design did a great job. We all bought something even though we had already shopped at the visitors center. The dark sky here was great, and we got to see hints of the Milky Way and Starlink satellites passing overhead with the naked eye. We also had a fun visit from a coyote just outside the parking let. While options available in the restaurant or general store were understandably limited, they had enough diversity to meet our needs while visiting the park and seeing everything we wanted to in comfort. Our only real complaints are the lack of a coffee maker in the room (so we purchased canned iced coffees from the general store) and that the location is further away from the main attractions that are nearer to Furnace Creek (Badwater, Natural Bridge, etc.). That said, Stovepipe is that much closer to the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes and to Ubehebe Crater, so perhaps that's a wash. We'd strongly recommend anyone coming to Death Valley to stay at Stovepipe, especially if they want to hit the right combination of comfort and responsible consumption.

Location in terms of proximity to the point of interests was great for us given the price and it is middle of nowhere ! We had dinner and food was great. Few veg. Options. The lentil soup was fantastic so was the stuffed pepper and Toll Road Salad. We had a great time. Not expensive given where it is located. The roo.s are not for sure sound proof as our neighboring room were noisy and the party went till some time.
