Inyo/Big Pine Creek RV Camping: Big Pine, CA

walked in right at 5pm and the woman at the front desk was talking on her personal phone and barely glanced up at me. i've been coming here for years and it used to be such a relaxed place where the staff actually seemed happy to be there. the campsites are still clean and well maintained, the bathrooms are decent for a place like this. bathrooms do have that piney soap smell which i weirdly like but they could use a few more hooks inside the showers. overall its still my go to spot but that first impression just kind of put me off a little

This charming campground offers a picturesque creek and serves as an ideal base camp for hiking and backpacking adventures.

I come here every year, usually in June or mid-August to hike the Big Pine Lakes trail. This year, the only reservation I could get was for April. We stayed over the weekend and it was absolutely freezing!!! Driving up, you could already see the mountains covered in snow and I knew right away we were in trouble! It got down to 21 degrees! I had double gloves, double layers, double everything and I still couldn’t feel my fingers!!! Lol. I was so glad I brought my snow cleats because they helped a lot since the trails were covered in snow! For safety reasons, we decided to only hike up to Lake 2. The usual beautiful turquoise blue lakes were nowhere to be found and instead replaced with a half frozen lake. It was still a cool sight to see and I’m grateful I got to experience it at least once in my life because I swear, I will never stay here again in April! No way! Hahhaha. I definitely would not recommend camping here that time of year unless you have an RV or are really prepared for winter conditions. We were a big group which made the experience a lot more fun. I love this campground and there’s a reason it’s so hard to book. It’s truly beautiful up there. If you’re lucky enough to snag a reservation, definitely check it out.

A very nice campground. No running water but there is a creek that runs through so if needed you can filter water. There is a store on site and they sell fire wood. Easy to find and locate your spot. Bathrooms are clean and don't smell.

Beautiful, quiet campground, with lots of shade. Clean vault toilets, no running water. Look at the campground map and get a site next to the creek 👌.

Beautiful campground surrounded by snow-capped peaks and tall trees with lots of shade. Goid privacy between most sites. Excellent hiking from camp and close to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest for terrific views and more hikes.

A great campground, clean and nicely laid out. Very good spots for vehicles with tents, and several very suitable for small trailers or RVs.

Notably, when you enter the driveway you are actually entering a separate RV trailer campground. Drive through that, heading back East, and you will find a Park Service sign indicating you've come to the correct part and correct campground.

Beautiful, special place next to a river. Hiking access to some of the best views around with the Big Pine Lakes and the glacier. Non smelly pit toilets and I think the store is open now. Sleeping at 7700' MSL. Store is open. Update: no bears have been seen yet this year at the campground per host. showers are $7 at lodge - you bring the supplies. New photo.

Big Pine Lakes is a beautiful trail. It's well marked and clean. The trail is considered hard. around June or July, the trail is covered with lush vegetation and wild flowers. Being out in nature and being mesmerized by mother nature beauty the trek becomes more bearable. Especially once you reach the lakes, the long challenging trek is well worth it. It's about 15 miles to all the 7 lakes and 8-10 hours, depending on your pace.

Beautiful campground very close to an amazing trailhead and on Big Pine Creek. Pit toilets and no water, so come prepared. This was campsite #14. It was nestled in a nice patch of trees that felt very private, with a short walk to the creek.
