Lake Tahoe Basin/Meeks Bay

Stayed at the Washoe House for 3 nights in July of 2026. It was a clean cozy cabin and guest studio with many rooms, comfortable enough for 3 or 4 couples. No wifi or TV. A bear visited the kitchen one night on account of a window we forgot to latch but she left with her cubs without incident. Days were spent cooking outside on the charcoal grill, nights were enjoyed gazing at the campfire below and the striking star filled sky above. Checking in and out was a breeze and the driveway had ample space for a column of 3 or 4 cars, though for more than 2 cars day permits are purchased separately. We hope to return next in a year's time and enjoy the Washoe House and Meek's Bay again.

Enjoyed this place so much!! Its beautiful. I stayed in Lodge 17. No kitchen, but it has a mini fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and dishes for 2! It was clean and exactly what you should expect. The view is incredible and I was able to watch the sunrise over the water from my bed. Don't forget there are bears and this is THEIR home. They will be there. Follow the guidelines. We forgot a bundle of bananas in our trunk and lost a car door.

We really enjoyed the beach at Meeks Bay Resort with a day-use pass. They have a lot of parking with shade trees right up to the sandy beaches. The beaches have granular sand that doesn’t take long to dry and shake off of feet or beach towels. The water is shallow to quite a ways out so that kids can swim safely. They have all the beach rentals and facilities that you would need for a great day at the beach. They also have a store, cabins, and camping sites, but we didn’t use those.

Great part of lake tahoe. Get there early for a good spot near the water.

The only place to go, when you want to enjoy a nice cool swim with your family! Great atmosphere, clean water, great food, wonderful people!

We did not stay at resort, just did day pass to use beach. No attendant at gate so went into store and paid to park. Did have a handicap and unloading spot at edge of beach. Lots of sun or shade if preferred. Used the paddle boards which are available to rent. Have a sand volleyball court to use at leisure. Sand was a bit rough and water was cold. The views were amazing! The general store staff was super helpful and very kind. They have a little bit of everything available to purchase at the store. Snacks, drinks, beer, volleyball, and souvenirs all reasonably priced. Bathrooms were super clean and stocked well.

This is a camping spot right on lake tahoe. Full hookup if you have rv or trailer. There are tent camping spots. There are cabins. Best to go off season. Summertime Tahoe is so crowded that wherever you go you won't find parking. But what a beautiful place to camp.

Such a gorgeous beach! Didn't get to stay there but went for a while and the water is so blue! Unfortunately it's not very large so it can get crowded.

The area was beautiful, the water was cold, but cristal clear. The rooms were very clean, but they don't have AC. They have a small fan in the living room, kitchen, and in the rooms, but they don't cool down the rooms. It was hot during nighttime, and the windows didn't have screens, so we could not open the windows late at night. They have the kitchen with many supplies such as pots with lids, plates, forks, spoons, cups, paper towels, etc. The only bad thing we experienced was that the kitchen stove was too old and only 2 of the small burners were working, which made our cooking experience difficult and longer.

We didn't stay at the resort but we did visit the beach. It's a beautiful area with a long gorgeous beach. The water was very calm, which made it a great place for young kids to play in the water. This was also a great place for paddleboarding. Parking was easy and the unloading zone made for easy beach setup. Arrive early to get a spot in the beach!

You can get a day pass for $12 during summer inside the store at the resort, no need to book ahead. It's always a good idea to arrive early to have good access to the beach. They also have very limited paddle boards and kayaks to rent. First come first serve.
