Oakzanita Springs RV Campground

Love the area, but if your truck doesn’t run or stop all that well, skip this location. Very steep grade with blind corners

Beautiful shaded park. We had full hookups right accross from the pool. They have volleyball court, horseshoe pit, playground, mini golf and dog run.

Hey Guys! I'm currently staying in my RV at Oakzanita Springs for the second time, and I'm loving it. The first time I was here I was a little nervous pulling in with my rig because this is one of the smaller, cozier (and I mean that in a huge compliment sort of way) Thousand Trail parks. So the roads are a little hilly and some turns are a bit tight, but again, that adds to the appeal and intamicy of this super charming place. First things first: The staff here are seriously amazing and they need to be recognized. Like, they are some of the warmest and most helpful people I've run into out of any other RV Resort. They genuinely really kind people ... and as far as the cleanliness? Spotless! Bathrooms, pool area, grounds, everything is perfect! It's clear they take a lot of pride here and have great management. The location itself is gorgeous, tucked away in the mountains, close to Julian and some great hiking. It’s just peaceful. The only down side is actually a good thing... I’m on T-Mobile, and you basically have zero reception. No bars. Nada.. At first you might panic a little, especially if you have kids, but honestly, It ends up being a huge blessing because it forces you to put the phone down, stop doom-scrolling, and actually soak in the nature (which is the main reason you would come here in the first place).. enjoy the quiet, and the sounds of nature. We played cards, went on long walks, and actually talked to each other. It the digital detox we need every once in a while... But if you have to use data or make that important call, they do have a lodge with Wi-Fi that's open most of the day; so that work zoom call can still get done. I'll be back soon

WOW (not a good wow! ) We were checking Thousand Trails out along with Oaksanita Park. We had two dogs leashed and well mannered. First, no one at the gatehouse (it's Sunday so not a busy time) We decided to walk through and check it out. We get to the store - posted hours 10:00 to 3:00. It's 2:30 and closed. As we walk a short distance a woman yells at us not to bring our dogs up as hers is off leash and will come after ours. This was not a friendly exchange so we turned around. It is clear the 10 year rule is not in affect here, there a quite a few permanent residents (storage sheds and plants might be a giveaway.) As we leave we notice someone in the gatehouse - they don't come out. As we are in our truck the woman that yelled at us about our dogs came out. Scowled. So this was our introduction to Thousand Trails. Our expectations certainly not met.

Our spot was by a loud, crazy camper and the noisy road. Not very peaceful, unfortunately. Would have liked to be closer to the pool and bathrooms

The staff were the warmest and welcoming of any thousand trails we’ve stayed at. They truly made the visit 5 stars. We had an issue with a “troublesome” camper that apparently had been causing trouble in other ways as well and the staff went out of their way to find us a spot that better suited our needs.

Great campground in the mountains east of San Diego. Lots of recreation, great hiking trail and close to great restaurant at the junction in descanso.

One of the best investments we have ever made has been an annual camping pass to Thousand Trails, and this park is BY FAR our favorite! The staff is always warm and friendly, extremely helpful, the facilities are wonderful, we love the pool and hot tub (you’ll likely be the only ones using it!) and the nature, animals and views are just spectacular. It’s a birder’s paradise! Thank you especially to Michelle and Ginger for always being super awesome hosts. Love you guys!!

Pros: So fun! I love that they have free crafts and games for kids and families and cheapish ice cream socials. Beautiful trees all around. All the employees are kind and helpful! Cons: most of the grass is dead, there are no more dinosaur bones for kids to dig up (other vistors probably stole them and ruined the fun for others), the ANTS are Terrible!!! They are everywhere! They have invaded the pool area. People in the pool or sitting at the pool get bit all the time!! The tent sites are full of ants too

Love the place. We have a smaller trailer so fitting in was easy. Location is not too far from some attractions and basics. Indian casino in Alpine off highway 8 is beautiful and same city for Amazon locker pickup. Cool trails on the property, pool and small clubhouse for internet. Dog loved it w so many places to walk. Staff are very nice and helpful. Picture is sitting area outside clubhouse.

Hmm. Surprised this TT got as good reviews as it has at the moment. Smaller TT. But confusing layout with very limited signage. Unless you count them labeling all their trees. Lots of labeled trees but no signs to guide you to certain areas/site clusters. The site numbers are barely two inches tall and very faded on the electric box. Very tight to navigate, so you’ll probably be told to unhook if you’re towing and I have a 26 ft RV towing a small Chevy Trax. No one came out to greet us at the gate upon arrival, she was on her cell phone. I sat there for 2 min, then got out and knocked on the door at the gate. Did everything standing there with her. Then watched the same thing happen to the person that pulled in right behind me. No one came out to greet him. I’ve never had to get out of my RV at a TT. Came in for the evening one day, while it was still manned and sat there for like 15 seconds while the guy didn’t pay attention, only once I was trying to punch in numbers for the gate code, he realized and opened the gate. When we left to check out, we also had to get out and knock on the door and they wouldn’t open the door, just said to slide the papers through the slot, which wouldn’t go through because of the tape and it’s a small slot, so my partner just walked away with them stuck in the slot. Never seen gate attendants that couldn’t be bothered to help/greet. Bathroom was nice, a lot of the spots are secluded but not very level. Pretty area to drive through to get there. It wouldn’t be high on my list to stay at again.

Beautiful place and Amazing staff! Sites are a bit tight if you have a big rig but it is totally worth it. Mountains are beautiful, pool is great, even the little store is very stocked! I just love going there.

The cabin was above and beyond my expectations. It had everything in it. Rangers were friendly. I especially enjoyed bird watching!

Wonderful place to stay! Many different things to do, like basketball courts, horseshoe pits, pool, hot tub, community center, and others plenty of spaces in different places in the park. Definitely a place for families!

Great park for small rigs only. The road to park is tight turns all the way with borders and trees right on the edge. The park roads are narrow and they built a bathroom in the road making it 1 lane and a tight upwards turn causing your back end to come close to the building. They only have full hook up for the seasonal campers which we were not made aware of. We stayed for a week having to run to the dump station with the extend a stay tub.
