My family and I just came to the caverns for “Wonderland under Warrior” and the lights/decorations are phenomenal! Very worth the entry price. Our boys got to see Santa, who gave them a little velvet bag with fools gold in it, and then the Grinch is inside the cave! The cave is beautiful and fairly easy to navigate with only a few steps. Highly recommend this!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five-Star Experience! We had a fantastic visit to the caverns! The customer service was wonderful from the very start. I called ahead with a few questions, and the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and gave me accurate information. Their website was also fully up to date and matched everything we were told once we arrived, which I really appreciated. Our tour was scheduled for 12:00, and it started right on time. Our tour guide was amazing—full of energy, super informative, and kept everyone laughing with great jokes throughout the entire hour-long tour. You could tell she truly enjoyed what she does. The caverns themselves were beautiful and absolutely worth the visit. That said, I do want to offer a couple of helpful notes for future visitors that I didn’t see clearly emphasized online. There are a lot of steps—over 360—and some of them are surprisingly steep. The final climb (about 100 steps straight up) definitely had people catching their breath at the end. Also, there are several very tight spaces. I’m on the smaller side and even I felt a bit squeezed at times. If you’re claustrophobic or on the larger side, just be aware that some sections are narrow. Overall, though, the experience was wonderful. The tour was well-run, the caverns were stunning, and the staff was top-notch. Highly recommend this adventure—just be prepared for the stairs and tight spots!

Thank you Hannah for the Befriending Bats cave tour experience! I learned some interesting facts about bats, saw a couple bats, heard some cave history highlights and got my steps in throughout the cave journey. Loads of fun! I highly recommend you check out Hannah’s upcoming activities!

SAT 2025.10.18 ~06:30, the Entrance Gate of Rickwood Caverns S.P. wasn't open yet. A few minutes later, the Gate opened for a vehicle that was exiting, and i got in for my early morning walk of the Park trails (before going on to the reserved 10:00 Cave Tour). It was relatively quiet in the Park; a few Campers were out and about, and a Ranger too. ~07:15, i went for my ~3+ miles CW-Loop walk of the Trails. Please note the Closure of Moss Rock Connector Trail. The Trails were in good condition and well maintained; relatively peaceful and quiet, some bird singings .. No other person during the first ~1.5 miles, then a 4-person Jogging Team who i encountered 3 times; they were Loop-Jogging the Picnic Trail 👍🙃

July 26, 2023: Went by chance on our way back from an anniversary trip back in July. Fantastic staff, they were very accommodating & sweet. The place was beautiful & full of things to do. Enjoyed the cave tour & panhandling. Definitely recommend the big bucket if you love rocks & gems.

Outstanding camping experience! Went on a big group trip here back in the Winter season and everything was perfect - great weather, beautiful nature, awesome caverns and exceptionally friendly & helpful staff. Had a minor issue with one of our reservations and they immediately issued a refund the next day. Our group also had a blast cooking out, telling stories and going on the cavern tour. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be returning!

This was one of the neatest places we’ve been to in Alabama yet. You go over 174 feet drown into this cavern and the guide is so informative. We learned so much on this mile hike under ground it was by far the nearest hike yet I would love to do It again. There are some low spots and some tight fits where you have to turn sideways to get threw I had a small backpack and had to take it off a couple times to fit there is a pretty steep stairs doing down and back up is 110 steps straight up but over all amazing trail for family’s the kids had a blast.

We just happened to see the sign on our way to Nashville and stopped in. We were an hour before the tour and wouldn’t be able to wait that long plus the tour time. Kat took us on a private guided tour and was amazing! She answered every question we had and showed us fossils in the caves as well as allowed our kids to explore different areas. I highly recommend the detour! Thank you Kat for the amazing experience.

Very cool experience! Just long enough so that the little ones could do it without complaining. Gorgeous caves and the tour guide Kat was really good

Rickwood State Park and Caverns are stunning. Well worth seeing if you're in the area. Kayla, our tour guide, was knowledgeable, funny, and very personable. The trek is about one mile and there are stairs. You will go down about 175 feet below surface on the hike. Railings along the stairways to assist. Would definitely recommend visiting.

We have always loved to visit the caverns. The massive cave goes over 150ft underground and is extremely beautiful. The holidays are very beautiful there. The gift shop has the cutest souvenirs. Be sure you’re mobile and can get around pretty well before commuting to the tour, it could be difficult for some individuals with lots of tight squeezes and steep stairs. There are picnic tables, BBQ grills, a playground and more to enjoy there. It’s always a wonderful experience. Located just off I-65 not difficult to find.

Bottom Line Up Front: Spend the day at the cavern, pool, playground, and beautiful park grounds. Spend the night somewhere else. Rickwood Caverns State Park is a wonderful and affordable family day trip. The cavern is a stunning natural treasure. The guided tour is friendly fun and informative. It’s a moderate physical challenge with almost 400 steps in total. It is not wheelchair accessible, but a virtual tour is available for the mobility impaired. Make sure to mention if you are camping as there is a ticket discount. The gift shop is very nice and full of great souvenirs, a snack bar, and a large playground out front. And WOW the pool! Huge and clean and nice all the way around. Fed by fresh clean water from deep within the cavern, it’s always cool and comfortable. The surrounding landscape is lush and beautiful. Amongst the trees, rocks and walking trails are plenty of picnic spots with tables and grills. There are several pavilions for larger events with lots of room and plenty of parking. The campground is lacking. With less than 15 (electric and water only) camp sites, it feels as if camping was an afterthought as opposed to a feature. The sites are cramped and not well laid out. Most of the sites are sliced out of what seems like a large gravel parking lot. There is very little room between sites. Some are very small with little room for more than a small pop-up, and some are larger, but often with the power/water post on the wrong side and 20-30 feet away from the site. The gift shop (which fully supports the cavern and pool) doesn’t even offer the most basic camping supplies and seemed only moderately interested in camping business. The primitive camping area, although not as remote as it could be, is nice if you want to pop a tent.

The cavern tour was wonderful. The caverns were amazing! Not as cool on there as they say temp-wise.
