Amazing campground. Host Bob was great, very friendly and helpful. We had a deer sleeping in our campsite on arrival, almost as if trying to welcome us. Wonderful place, my family will definitely come back.

This is an incredible campground. All the sites have a good amount of privacy, very spacious with tent pads, fire ring, and a hook. Clean bathrooms and water spigots throughout. Camp hosts were very kind; wood was available for $10 a bundle. Spoiler: sites 11, 14, and 15 have the most amazing views of the Western mountains.

Book it early or get there on a Wednesday or Thursday morning, because this gem fills up fast for good reason. Ideally located within a short drive above Ouray, and within a few short walking miles from the Via Ferrata, this place is excellent. The staff are friendly, present, approachable and knowledgeable, with gentle reminders of bear habits within the surrounding forest, as well as local tips to the area.

Great location as it's close to the Ouray town. Very friendly and helpful hosts! I was also so impressed by how well they maintain the restrooms. Drinking water also available. Overall a very quiet campground but it will be a little bit noisy for the sites near the restrooms. Bring some cash for the payment. There are also large dumpsters right outside the campground. You'll just have to pack everything out.

Great campground, first come first served only. Water spigot is plentiful, bathrooms are clean but sometimes gets smelly. David & Nancy are wonderful host. During our stay, passing storms came upon us & definitely made our night wet & chilly & also gave us a good show of the thunderstorm.

The campsite is well organized. Steve does a great job as its guardian. He found us a nice spot and we were able to fit 2 vans in only one spot. The cost was 28$. The restrooms are very basic and there are no showers. Each site is equipped with a metal pit for the fire.

Had an amazing 3-night stay at Amphitheatre Campground! Each site I stayed in had its own charm, and the views were incredible. Huge shoutout to the camp hosts—David, Steve, and Nancy—who were so helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. Their hospitality made the experience even better. I kept extending my stay because it was just that good. Can’t wait to come back!

Not only is ouray a beautiful town but the Amphitheater Campground might be the most beautiful campground I have ever had the absolute privilege of staying at! The camp sites have breath taking views and there are many fun hikes around. If you cant reserve a camp spot try for next year or go before june 1st and if you can get spot 6 its the best in the campground!!!

One of, if not the best camp site we’ve stayed at. Amazing views in all directions, and a good amount of room between sites. Water and vault toilets were close by to our site. The camp hosts were incredible. We can’t wait to come back (if we can nab a reservation)!

This is an amazing campground that is quiet yet so close to downtown Ouray. It overlooks the town from maybe 500 above it in the thick forest with views of the towing amphitheater rock walls that envelope it. Sites are used mostly by tent campers and small teardrop size trailers.  Steve, the host is highly knowledgeable,  very thoughtful,  and fun to talk to. He keeps the pit toilets exceptionally clean! His wife writes the daily weather forecast on a whiteboard for campers. It's obvious they love what they do.  It's the best run campground I've been to.

Great place! Great base camp while you explore the area. Veteran discount! Loved it!

Views are superb. Very quiet. My favorite campground. A tad too busy for us between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Will return in September.
