Second stay in the dry camping area and am sad to report that things are going downhill rapidly in the campground. First, when we arrived the security gates were broken so when we left for lunch one day, we came back to find random people, in a regular car, day camping and BBQing at our site. Second, the homeless encampments are multiplying right next to the campground. Homeless people living in their tents frequent the dry camping sinks to wash their clothes, bodies, and fill their water bottles. Had a regular stream of homeless beach tent dwellers walking through the campground each day. Third, on Friday and Saturday nights we waited over 30 minutes just to get back into the campground from the Imperial Highway entrance because of a massive traffic jam of people coming to the state beach part of the park. They had just two people taking entrance fees from hundred of cars waiting to get into the park. There is no alternate entrance for campers. Last, we were awakened at 3am to paramedics in the dry camping area who were responding to a chemical smelling fire coming from the homeless encampment area. We hope everyone was okay, it was hard to not worry about an overdose or drug-related incident in the tents. We are sad to write this review, we love this campground, especially the dry camping area, a lot - the airplane noise, the stink from the sewage treatment plant, the semi-clean restrooms were not deal breakers for us. But the changes we experienced during this visit probably are. I would not recommend this campground for women traveling alone or for families with children. It no longer feels properly protected.

Stayed at the RV part of the beach and it was perfect for helping my Dad who is in his end of life stages enjoy the ocean without stress. The campground was quiet so he could rest when needed, was safe, had plenty of space for the dogs to be walked with some grassy areas to sniff, and allowed wheelchair access to the bike path for viewing the waves, volleyball games, gatherings at fire pits, hang gliding lessons, and just general people watching. The sunsets at the end of the day were gorgeous and it was fun to see the city lights and even ferris wheel lit up in the distance. My Dad had been a pilot so he actually loved watching the planes take off and land from the nearby airports. Less than half a mile north of the campground was a place to rent free beach wheelchairs so Dad could even put his feet in the water and collect seashells with me. And last but not least the Oceans Cafe and Grill next door was a delicious and enjoyable breakfast and or lunch--we highly recommend a visit for a meal with a view!

We have gone in September two years in a row (2020, 2021) during the pandemic. The bad: The campground is an asphalt parking lot with the back row slightly elevated. About half the sites were blocked due to the restrictions. I think without the limited capacity restrictions, the sites would feel like they are on top of each other. We had very little space; in fact, our awning was over the next spaces electrical, sewer, and water hook-ups which is kinda gross, but since there was no one there, it was tolerable. The bathrooms were small with limited privacy in the showers. Not much to offer in amenities. Also, right next to LAX so not good if you are sentive to noise. The good: The access to the beach definitely makes the tiny sites worth tolerating. It is literally right on the beach. Great beach too, super not crowded when we went. We are currently looking at other beachfront campgrounds for our next trip, but this is a good backup.

Fantastic location right next to the beach. No wifi, bathrooms/showers a long way away (other end showers “under construction”), bums sleeping in public bathroom. Good security though, guard walks the park the entire night to prevent theft. LAX planes loud at first but not too bad.

We love this place for the awesome bike path, full hook-ups and uncrowded beach. BUT the noise of jets directly overhead, taking off from LAX constantly, 24/7 is not for anyone wanting a quiet vacation!! If you're a light sleeper this is not for you!

Nice beach side dry camping. Beautiful view, great beach and bike path. Be prepared for a few planes taking off all day and night. Just don't come if the Santa Anas are in town. You won't like the smell.

It was cheap and easy and close to the beach. We enjoyed and every other space was open. The guard at the front (non RV park related) was a jerk but that was all. And we left our surge protector. We called immediately (before another rig could even move in) and it was clear that they didn’t bother to look so we could come back and pick up. Which was disappointing but we can’t expect park employees act as we would :/ some airplane noise but overall good park 🚎💨🗺

This is a great RV sites. We have stayed here many times before. The RV park is only hosting 25% occupancy. This time it appears that they are lacking in clean up. We arrived on a Monday afternoon and all of the dumpster are over flowing with trash. When we stayed here before, they kept the sand cleared from the roadway and sites. I understand that we are at the beach and there is going to be sand. I'm talking about large sand piles. This makes it dangerous for people (kids) to ride around the area.

Spots are super tight but the location is right on the beach and was worth it to us. It is right next to the airport so if the sound of planes flying by bothers you, this might not be the right spot for you. The staff was friendly, security was good, and the facility was clean overall. There was a constant smell from the sewer which kept us from being able to leave our doors and windows open. I’m hoping that it was because it was the end of the season. Hopefully they clean those out and they are fresh for the start of the season. I will be back in the Summer and hope for the best.

We stay every Thanksgiving for a hockey tournament and have always enjoyed our stay. Nice showers and laundry facilities. They do fill up quickly so you need to plan well in advance for your stay. The only downside is the airport. If you bring ear plugs you'll be fine.

This park is right on the beach! The staff was friendly. You can hear the waves. That’s what I needed. It’s in a great location, close to everything you need. The only negatives I can think of is the airplane noise and the spaces are a little tight. The design layout of the sewer/water hookup is in a bad location but it’s too late to move that now. We lived this park and will definitely be back.
