This was our second time at this campground. We like the area and the views from the edge overlooking the ravine are beautiful. Fabulous sunsets. Pay shower only, but nice enough. Wifi not so good. A bit noisy - kids talking up a storm late, and too close to neighbors running AC all night long, had trouble sleeping. Not much to be done about that, I guess. But we will go back - owner was nice and helpful and again, views were terrific.

Super nice owners, great communication, very quiet!!!!! And yes, you are on top of a mountain, lol. Great views. This campground does not have a lot of frills; which is exactly what we love! Not a fan of highly commercialized and loud campgrounds. Definitely worth staying here.

We absolutely loved this park. We stayed here about a year ago, and it’s still one of our Top 5 parks. Great people, great music, and great location. We hope to be back soon. Check out our full review on our YouTube channel!

Gave myself a mini vacation by renting the cabin for 3 days. Quiet, peaceful, thoroughly enjoyed myself. The owners are always available by phone for any needs from fire starters to toilet paper. I loved it here! I will be back!

This was more of an experiment staying at Mountain Top as we live ten minutes away. We have two very young golden retrievers and this was their first camping trip. I would say it went "alright" but one of them was bladder shy and both of them barked at other dogs. We also discovered that you simply cannot travel comfortably with two larger dogs and two children in a truck. Luckily, again, this was a ten minute ride to and from home. Ok, on to the campground. The road in is a little treacherous, thin at times and a slightly stew winding incline on the way in. There are signs, so it was easy to find. Once there, drive slow as they seem to apply new limestone often on the driveway...quite dusty. The staff (who presumably live on site) are all very friendly and helpful. Greg helped me back into my spot and then explained the entire site and park to us. We had a "rim" site with a view, 30A electric, water (shared via a splitter with the neighbor), and a gray water dump hose. Have to empty your black tanks at the dump station (also tricky to traverse with a longer rig). It's not a very large campground by any means and there really isn't anything to do but the view from the back of the site was breathtaking for western PA. There is a fire ring and picnic table at the site with about 20' between sites. Gravel parking pad with grass picnic area. Our site was level but we did see some others that had more stabilizer blocks on one side than the other. Almost everyone there had dogs and they were all on leashes from what I could see. There is a free bathroom, pay shower and pay laundry, fire wood and ice for sale as well. Large field with music stage and disc golf area but that is the extent of "activities." This is a great spot for people in need of a place to "sleep" for a couple of nights either on their way through Pittsburgh or with plans for things to do in or around Pittsburgh. Great spot for quiet and peaceful bird-watching. Would recommend. We camped at Mountain Top Bluegrass Festival & Campground in a Travel Trailer. (UPDATE): As of April, 2022, they've added sewage to a few of their sites. This was a welcome add as we didn't have to use the dump station that was quite treacherous to approach. It's possible, but tight between trees around a corner. Service was top notch, yet again! Stayed for two nights in April in our 40' fifth wheel.

Deffinatly lives up to its name. But campground is very nice, well maintained and nice restroom/laundry room facility. Beautiful views.

Our favorite camping experience. Quiet. Fantastic views. Close enough to the main road to make it easy to access, far enough away that you can't see or hear it. Perfection. Wonderful hosts.

Don’t pay any attention to some of the complaints you may have heard in Reviews. The new owners are addressing the issues. We are staying here (we leave tomorrow 5/21/22). This place is awesome. Clean, well maintained and the owners are great. Would definitely stay again.

My wife and I were slated to spend four days at Mountaintop RV Campsite, Tarentum PA in late April 2022. On the second day we were there, we received word from Boston MA that my sister was in distress. She had an elective heart procedure that went wrong, resulting in emergency open heart surgery; at the time of the call, we weren’t sure if she would live or die. This was on a Wednesday. I contacted the owners to feel out our options. They were SO GREAT! We arranged to leave our motor home with them in a vacant lot and drive to Boston in our tow-behind car on Thursday. We thought we’d be back on Sunday or Monday after spending the weekend. How wrong we were! We drove all day (12 hours) Thursday and got to see my sister on Friday. She was alive, thankfully no funeral this trip. As the days passed, we realized that she was going to need more care than we originally thought or that our other sisters in Boston could provide, at least initially… not that we had any idea what we were all in for. She left the hospital and went to my sister’s house on Monday, where my wife and I were staying. I called back to the campsite and told them of our situation, asked if it were possible for us to stay through the end of that week. Again, they were so great, said we could. As the week passed, we were able to take care of her while my other sisters and her daughter worked. We formulated our plan, called the campsite again, and asked if we could stay through the weekend. They immediately said yes. We finally headed back to the campsite on Sunday, calling them along the way. We used Monday to unwind a bit, and repack things, and then left on Tuesday. Our 4 night stay turned into a 15 night stay (mostly by our motor home!). Gary, Cathy, and Greg were all so WONDERFUL! We highly recommend them and the Mountaintop RV Campsite. We will surely stay with them the next time we are in the western PA area.

Very clean. Very nice people too. Very quiet, great views. Has 3 washers, 1 dryer, 1 bathroom with shower. Shower and washer/dryer are run by tokens. Has water, electric, sewage hookups, included. Has wifi, free guest level or premium level for an extra fee. Can buy firewood too. Has an empty field that you can play in. Each lot has a picnic table and fire ring. Only 4 miles away from shopping. About 30 minutes north of Pittsburgh, very convenient. We're truckers with a 40 ft. straight truck with an 8ft. RV sleeper, and we were so happy to find a place that would accomadate a "big rig." If you're a big rig, be sure to tell them your weight too, so they can see if the lot is hard enough/if it's rained recently, so you don't sink in mud. The lots are gravel atop raw ground. Also. if you're a big rig, you need to have shoreline electric hookup, since it needs to be quiet. Would recommend highly, and will return again!

This place was great. The views on the loop were magnificent. There will be a full video of the campground and other things to do on Dark Nest Travels YouTube. If you plan on camping here do not use Google maps or regular gps. We use a truckers gps. Follow the email instructions from the park. There are low wires and low clearance tunnels north of the park. Customer Service here was good. This is not a resort with mini golf, go-karts, or a playground. It's a scenic place to relax and enjoy the area near and around Pittsburgh.

Great campground, easy set up, every site is level and there are some amazing views once you are set up. Very nice and accommodating owners. I definitely will return next season.
