The Woods RV Park & Campground

This is a REALLY NICE RV park. It is an oasis from the harsh world just outside its doors. Could use a security gate with a key pad for guests. The buildings are very nice on the exterior. The showers and laundry need a freshing up on the interior. It does not have the polish nor the cleanliness level I've seen at fine RV parks throughout the country. The outdoor spaces and thoight put into activities are well done. The hangout and the grilling hub are top-notch. Very much about the experience. I'm very impressed. Unfortunately, while we were there, a man was gunned down and killed in the exact spot I should have been sitting outside of Popeye's. It makes you STOP and reflect. Should I share this? I decided to share it because I would want to know. It is not the fault of the owners of the RV Park. They just happen to be located where it happened.

Very convenient right off the highway. But like I said right off the highway. Jake brakes, trucks and cars all night long. Good for a night stay. Easy pull through.

Place smells of sewage, camp staff in the office is as rude as they come. It's extremely dark with limited light around the park. You may book a site you want, only to be moved the day before your trip. If you're lucky enough you'll miss the shootings that happen right outside the main gate of the park. It's in a rather rough part of town. The ONLY perk or positive thing about this park is the location proximity to the interstate.

The staff was kind and helpful. The area with gang gunfire and murders was horrible. A small army of police and helicopters surrounded the RV PARK Looking for the bad guys. We were later told by numerous people that gun fire is common here. We will never return!!

This was an easy checkin process, just an email. The site rows were marked and easy to find out site. Love that they are pulling through sites. They have a nice laundry facility and bath house. The place is really clean. Met one of the owners while packing up. They are so nice. I hooked up by myself but I totally could have gone and asked for help if I needed it. We loved our stay.

This RV park is nice & convenient for travels. Close to interstate. Richard was very helpful taking reservation & giving a Good Sam discount. Park was nice. Sites are all gravel and level. FHU. Dog park could use some more grass. Husband said bathroom & laundry were good. My only concern was when you pulled into the RV park, surrounding area was all torn down & wasn't very appealing. But it served our one night layover. This is the reason for my rating.

We have stayed here over the last four years twice a year… Once heading south in November, November, and then once returning in April… We were shocked to see the condition of the bathrooms… There was mold growing 12 inches up the wall in the shower stall, I wish I could leave pictures… Shower curtain was filthy… Whole place smelled of mold… Nobody at the front desk to check us in or to get any help from… We will not be staying here ever again the place looks like a refugee camp

We stayed here for 3 nights in October 2024. We enjoyed our stay here. The biggest issue we had was the site assignments didn't make sense. We have a 48 foot fifth wheel plus our F450, so when we're fully deployed with the deck down on the fifth wheel and truck disconnected, we are 80 feet long in total. The standard RV sites here vary from 57 feet long to 96 feet long. Obviously, with a rig as long as ours (which we disclosed during booking) the system should have placed us in one of the longest sites possible, but it did not. We were in one of the shorter sites, which meant we had to park our truck on the grass. They didn't have any problem with us parking on the grass, but their system should assign sites based on your size, not randomly. There were tiny travel trailers in the huge sites, and our long RV was shoehorned into a tiny site. There is a nice community area with some games, there is a small dog park, and there is a laundry facility. The laundry was reasonable and worked well, but there was no change machine. The office hours are limited to the ability to get change is also limited.

The campground is neat, clean and set up very well. The staff was pleasant, friendly, and helpful. We’ll definitely be staying there again.

Camped at this RV park on two different occasions. Close to the highway, well-maintained with large pull-through sites. The area outside the campground is run down and needs some revitalization.

Sites are level and spacious. Park is quiet with hangouts for games, grills, gatherings. Dog park is clean! Easy in and out. Only draw back is wifi isn't good, but plenty of local channels.

This RV Park is really nice. Wish I could have stayed longer. Very nice pads with up to date hookups. Very clean and neat...yard , campsites and shower-laundry room. Very reasonable rates

Very caring staff. Came in after a long travel day and went straight to my camp site due their email and contactless check in procedure. Sites were well marked and level. Had a flat on the road and they went out of their way to help me get a new tire.

Good location for a one night stay. Nothing fancy. Depending on which site they give you (no option to choose a site) depends on how big rig friendly plus tow it is. First Standard Site 201 assigned, was too short for our 45’ Motorcoach towing a Jeep Gladiator, second site in from an end. We knew turning into that site was only happening looping around the park coming in from the opposite direction. Staff was watching us park and could see the Site was too short and happily gave us another Site #206, which we fit on with no wiggle room forward or back, but it worked. Standard Sites listed as 30 x 57’ to 30 x 96’ on website. Park was well taken care of. Hard packed gravel level site, FHU, cable. A bit of grass between sites. There are red ants around, so be careful where you step or stand, FYI. Found them in the morning, LOL. Safe Teavels!

This is the 3rd time we’ve stayed here at the Backyard RV Resort in Montgomery Alabama. We weren’t sure how far we wanted to drive yesterday so it was late in the game when we figured out we wanted to stop in Montgomery. I’ve only been doing this a couple years and several times I couldn’t book a site at RV parks because they were closed. Yesterday, I went on the Backyard website and although they were closed I was still able to book/pick/pay for my site. I highly recommend this place. Clean, nice dog park, easy in/out.
