Water was off two out of the three days we were there. I asked why they didn’t tell us before we arrived so we could fill our tanks. She said she texted, but there were three of us traveling together and no one received a text. WiFi is not park wide. No cable. Very costly for what you get. We left early despite having already paid.

Park is a little outside Tuscon. Very close to the Desert Museum and the Old Tuscon tourist area. One way to get to Tuscon proper is over Gates' Pass, it's a delightful mountain pass drive. The owners are very nice. The park is quiet with dark skies and cactus.

The pics displayed are not how the park looks now. All the "tiki" artwork, observation hill etc. have been torn down. This used to be our favorite park and this would have been our 12th winter! But since being sold it has gone completely downhill. No upgrades, no WiFi unless you sit in the rec hall, no activities or entertainment unless organized by people staying there. The observation area was torn out and was supposed to be replaced. It is still a dirt hill with wires and broken glass and huge ravines from the rains. Owners are not honoring signed contracts and are increasing rent for the 2nd time $100/mon. And the list continues. We have moved to another RV park because these new owners have ruined this one. Will miss the great people we met there but a lot have moved on too.

Pros: Close to miles of trails. Activity groups residents. Cons: Activity groups are ran by residents and no help planning from management. Management has had the pool shut down multiple times over the summer bcuz of algae blooms they cant control. However, management will plan to throw you under the bus for any reason. I informed management that I had a restraining order against my Ex girlfriend. That didn't matter to them. They had already taken sides and proved it by turning over my car keys to her when she came to the office. Don't waste your time here. Go somewhere that will respect you and your possessions.

This park no longer has the quaint ambience it once had. The artwork shown in this photo was demolished by the new owners who only care about their pocket book over the customers. They have destroyed this park. The pool is in awful condition. Don’t come here unless you are a mountain biker.

Ok- it's really too bad when great places like this used to be are bought by folks who just don't care. Not only is the place detiorating physically, the really superb community of long term loyal customers is being driven off by lack of facilities and activities (used to be the best), and ownership regularly refusing to honor their own "contracts" saying they aren't binding because they aren't notarized??? Pool inoperable, piles of old vegetation grow, maintenance gets ignored, but rates go up. Do not do business with these people -they can't be trusted. Too bad, this place used to be the best...we won't be back

We are snowbirds and have been coming to this park for 11 years. The park was sold in April of 2021. The new owners have destroyed the once quirky atmosphere that we all enjoyed. If it wasn’t for our core group of mountain bikers and the ideal location for riding into Tucson Mountain Park from this campground, we would not return. We love our winter friends so much that is why we return. The regular returning customers have been responsible for making this park fun. The new owners only care about their pocket book. Sad, sad, sad.|So, if you own a mountain bike, come on down!

Desert Trails used to be a great RV resort, but it has slipped over the past five years. Current management is trying, but is too little too late. Facilities are falling apart, showers are dirty, pool unheated and dirty...the general feeling everywhere is that decay is faster than maintenance. The residents are wonderful -- friendly and helpful, but this is insufficient. Fees are high, very high for this level of service and product. And the reason I'm taking the time to write this negative review is that management kept a $200 deposit which I cancelled 10 months in advance! I'm still mad ;)

Stayed here for two months this winter but would not come again. Pros: walk or bike to the “desert trails” from your site, dove, quail, owls and other birds sing to you every day, able to receive mail/packages, reasonably priced. Cons are many: water gets turned off frequently, sites can be very tight, buildings and grounds need lots of work, part time maintenance workers can’t keep up with years of neglect. The whole time we were there a pile of torn up wood railing with nails, wiring and even rebar stayed piled up next to the dirty (no grass or landscape) dog run, a haven for rattlesnakes and a hazard for dogs and Seniors. Piles of landscaping cuttings drawing snakes and pack rats. The pool is tiny, music only once or twice a month (not as stated on their website) and very little activities as stated. No pickle ball or tennis, just Bocce ball. Laundry has no change machine and office has no quarters, plus WIFi doesn’t work for credit card machine. Oh, no WIFi or cable, WIFi only at certain buildings. Customer service is lacking, not friendly or helpful but did meet lots of nice RV’rs! If you don’t care about the amenities or condition and want the desert out your door, this for you!

We stayed at Desert Trails for 4 months this winter. It’s our second visit. The positives are the mature vegetation, the abundance of birds, access to the desert, and friendly people. Unfortunately, for us, the negatives outweigh the positives. The pool is not maintained and there are no chairs, there is a general sense of disrepair with garbage cans not emptied routinely, broken items not repaired, and a large, ugly dirt pile in the middle of the park. Wifi is spotty at best and never worked in our campsite. The laundry is also spotty and the park with not reimburse for lost money. There are no other amenities. All activities are run by the residents including setup, clean up, etc. There have also been security concerns with numerous accounts of non-residents roaming the park and trying door handles. Unfortunately, we won’t stay here in the future.

See the reviews before the owner change April 2021 compared to since then.||||The onsite management is excellent but not supported by the owners. ||||The insulated/isolated new owners show no interest in their campers, only in taking their money. They immediately raised long term rates by $100 per month and if you wish to stay a short time extra, they charge double the rate paid on monthly. If you wish to reserve for next season, they've doubled the deposit amount to $200 which they will not refund under any conditions. There is absolutely no reason to keep this money from you if you have to cancel early enough that they will be able to fill the site with someone else. ||||The new owner's business practices have caused a lot of regular long term campers to leave the park. A park that was always at capacity has not been full at anytime this season.||||We hope the new owners smarten up or they will continue to loose business.||||The reason for a 2 star rating is because the park is very social and volunteer campers make it a fun place.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Desert Trails RV Park. We had only planned to stay two days but loved this RV park and the people here that we extended our stay to seven days. Mrs. Jessie and her staff were very friendly and accommodating. There is a family atmosphere of the campers that welcome you with open arms (Snow Birds) that return every year to spend their winters at Desert Trails. The park is located near the Saguaro National Park and the scenery is unbelievably incredible. When my husband and I return to the Tuscan area we will definitely be making our reservations at the Desert Trails RV Park!

We made a reservation several months ago. Due to the high Covid rates in Tucson, and my husbands health, we decided we had to cancel a month before our reservation . We want our $200.00 deposit back but we were told that no deposits made for a months reservation were returnable. On their website it says that deposits wouldn’t be returned from cancellations made 72 hours before the reservation. NO where did we read that our deposit would not be returned for a cancellation made a month before! We’re not through with them. Beware.
