Dockweiler RV Park

This is an awesome campground next to a major city like Los Angeles and all its nearby towns. The campground is right next to the beach and to a bike path. It has full hookups, bathrooms with showers and laundry room. The beach is amazing, miles of walking space. For $80-$90/night you pay what would be hundreds of dollars more per night at a hotel in that location. The reason for 4 stars is that it is next to LAX, which means that you will be essentially underneath the take-off/landing path of all the airplanes. LAX is a busy airport and, even though it does quiet down a little at late hours of the night, don't count on silence. Personally, I just end up de-tuning that noise but, if you are sensitive to that, this may not be the place for you. Otherwise, I could not recommend it more, a fantastic place to be with your rv in a metropolis!

The location couldn't be any better. You are literally steps away from a beautiful beach ⛱️ with an amazing paved sidewalk perfect for biking, walking, jogging, skateboarding. Lots of firepits right in front of the rv park on the beach. The biggest problem was plane noise! LAX is so close. It was difficult to sleep at night due to the noise and there are a lot of planes!!!! Sunsets were the most beautiful I have ever seen.

This beach has to be the filthiest beach park I ever been to. I spent most of my time cleaning the beach. Loaded three trash bags full or trash I found on the spot I was sitting at. There was bike renting from Metro Bike which was very affordable and equipment was semi new. Bomb fires are still happening at night but people are simply wild and careless of mother earths home.

Stayed over the 9/19 I arrived 35 minutes early and they would not let me check in unless I paid early fee. The staff is very unfriendly and mean, The customer service is unknown to these people. The Rules and regulations are made up as they go thru your campground, My vehicle was a little larger and parking very limited , Supervisor suggested to go to public Beach parking that is 2 miles long and full or maybe closer to the airport. only because my car was touching the white line.

Two stars for the ocean view and access to the beach. Everything else is not worth the $75/day plus all the add ons. No enforcement of the long list of rules that they say you must follow. Bathrooms are barely clean and not much privacy for the showers. Dumpsters overflowing, noisy, drunk campers and homeless encampments on the far end of the park. Would not recommend- lots of other RV parks along the California coast at half the coast and much cleaner.

We visited end of May 2022. I really enjoyed the beach view here. You are parked right up at the beach. You get a gate code that works for the showers too. Showers were ok, kind of awkward setup. The restroom in the shower is much better than the public beach restroom. There are planes flying by but that didn’t bother me that much.

Probably one of the better RV campgrounds on the beach. We had a front row site, and woke up to the sounds of the waves....and planes. You're close to the flight path out of LAX, but other than that, the place was amazing. There are plenty of fire pits on either side of the beach, but we were fine getting one right behind the trailer. One note of caution, it's the LA freeway. If you're not from here or used to towing a rig through traffic, plan your route and don't use Google for your GPS, you want to use a specific GPS app for truckers or RV specific.

Surprisingly delighted with this spot despite it being loud from planes. The beach was deserted during the day and very clean, at night there were a few bonfires (out at 10pm). Running/biking trail along the beach was lovely. There was a small homeless encampment a little farther down but there weren’t any problems when I was there and it didn’t effect the actual rv area. Security was super friendly and patrolling 24/7 and I felt safe here. Don’t go here if you’re looking for a fancy rv park because what you’ll find is a parking lot with hookups and public beach restrooms. Do go here if you want to be in LA and close to the beach!

Second stay in the dry camping area and am sad to report that things are going downhill rapidly in the campground. First, when we arrived the security gates were broken so when we left for lunch one day, we came back to find random people, in a regular car, day camping and BBQing at our site. Second, the homeless encampments are multiplying right next to the campground. Homeless people living in their tents frequent the dry camping sinks to wash their clothes, bodies, and fill their water bottles. Had a regular stream of homeless beach tent dwellers walking through the campground each day. Third, on Friday and Saturday nights we waited over 30 minutes just to get back into the campground from the Imperial Highway entrance because of a massive traffic jam of people coming to the state beach part of the park. They had just two people taking entrance fees from hundred of cars waiting to get into the park. There is no alternate entrance for campers. Last, we were awakened at 3am to paramedics in the dry camping area who were responding to a chemical smelling fire coming from the homeless encampment area. We hope everyone was okay, it was hard to not worry about an overdose or drug-related incident in the tents. We are sad to write this review, we love this campground, especially the dry camping area, a lot - the airplane noise, the stink from the sewage treatment plant, the semi-clean restrooms were not deal breakers for us. But the changes we experienced during this visit probably are. I would not recommend this campground for women traveling alone or for families with children. It no longer feels properly protected.

Stayed at the RV part of the beach and it was perfect for helping my Dad who is in his end of life stages enjoy the ocean without stress. The campground was quiet so he could rest when needed, was safe, had plenty of space for the dogs to be walked with some grassy areas to sniff, and allowed wheelchair access to the bike path for viewing the waves, volleyball games, gatherings at fire pits, hang gliding lessons, and just general people watching. The sunsets at the end of the day were gorgeous and it was fun to see the city lights and even ferris wheel lit up in the distance. My Dad had been a pilot so he actually loved watching the planes take off and land from the nearby airports. Less than half a mile north of the campground was a place to rent free beach wheelchairs so Dad could even put his feet in the water and collect seashells with me. And last but not least the Oceans Cafe and Grill next door was a delicious and enjoyable breakfast and or lunch--we highly recommend a visit for a meal with a view!

We have gone in September two years in a row (2020, 2021) during the pandemic. The bad: The campground is an asphalt parking lot with the back row slightly elevated. About half the sites were blocked due to the restrictions. I think without the limited capacity restrictions, the sites would feel like they are on top of each other. We had very little space; in fact, our awning was over the next spaces electrical, sewer, and water hook-ups which is kinda gross, but since there was no one there, it was tolerable. The bathrooms were small with limited privacy in the showers. Not much to offer in amenities. Also, right next to LAX so not good if you are sentive to noise. The good: The access to the beach definitely makes the tiny sites worth tolerating. It is literally right on the beach. Great beach too, super not crowded when we went. We are currently looking at other beachfront campgrounds for our next trip, but this is a good backup.

Fantastic location right next to the beach. No wifi, bathrooms/showers a long way away (other end showers “under construction”), bums sleeping in public bathroom. Good security though, guard walks the park the entire night to prevent theft. LAX planes loud at first but not too bad.
