Love this campground- it's location and sites are private and very scenic- full hookups and easy to park trailer. Highly recommend!

I liked this park quite a bit, stopped to overnight and winterize. I’m rating it a 4 and not a 5 because it rained overnight and my sewer and electric were in a giant puddle. There was three inches of water surrounding my power pedestal which made me very uncomfortable. Having said that this issue was not the case for most sites just some as I was looking at other sites walking my dog. I will return to this place.

Stayed for one night. The rv spots are HUGE! Great pull through with FULL hookups...not something that every COE campground has. Pretty spot right by the water with a concrete pad, picnic table, fire pit, and grill. The bathrooms are fairly clean. We did not use the showers. The cost was great...$30 a night, or if you have a national park pass, it's just $15. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Pros: Easy access for big rigs as we have 43 foot 5th wheel. Sites are huge and laid out well. Loop we were in had full hookups including sewer. Campground clean and some sites on water. Cons: The smell. Must be located near a plant or something as the smell was awful. No way to be outside. Smell would clear for a few minutes and come back. Thought we were going to have to leave in the middle of night as it got so strong you couldn't sleep. When we left in the morning the smell had cleared for a few minutes. The campground is nice but will not return because of smell.

Great campground (Not sure why Google is asking about a hotel for the review?). Large mostly level concrete pads with full hook ups. The views are outstanding and the staff was very friendly. We will be going back for certain. Highly recommended.

Gunter Hill Campground in Montgomery, AL, is a beautifully maintained U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground that offers a perfect blend of nature and comfort. Situated along the Alabama River, this campground provides a peaceful, wooded setting with modern amenities, making it ideal for both nature enthusiasts and those looking for a relaxing getaway. We stayed from May 12 to May 26, 2024. We were in site Catoma 29, a river front, back-in site with full hook-ups, a large concrete pad with a picnic table, fire ring, a built-in grill, and a long driveway. Our site was well-maintained, spacious, and surrounded by lush greenery, which added a peaceful, natural vibe to our stay. The Catoma Loop offers some lovely views of the Alabama River, and there were plenty of spots to enjoy fishing, hiking, or simply relaxing outdoors. We were lucky to be there during the emergence of the cicadas, which was such a unique experience! Although they were incredibly loud, they were also surprisingly friendly, I did hold a couple of them, and they were really sweet. I spent a lot of time outside listening to cicadas as well as watching the beautiful butterflies. The campground is pet friendly, though there is no enclosed dog park, there are plenty of areas to walk your dog and enjoy the beautiful views. The campground is well maintained and offers a nice array of amenities that include modern bathhouses, restrooms, a laundry facility, playground, dump station, fishing and water access, a boat ramp, and nature trails to enjoy the great outdoors. One thing to note is this campground does have a late check-in time at 4, so you will want to plan your arrival accordingly. If you're planning a stay in the Montgomery, Alabama area, I highly recommend this fantastic campground! It’s a wonderful spot with excellent amenities and a peaceful, natural setting—perfect for a relaxing escape.

This place is beautiful, spots are paved, wide, long and spaced out Full hookup, great Verizon and T mobile services. Most spots have a river view, walking trails and at this time of year beautiful colors. Roads are wide and easy to maneuver.

Great campground with large level sites, tons of trees & shade. Sites are large, gravel, include a picnic table, fire pit & grill. Electric & water at site. I’d give it a 5 except the bathhouse was very old, had not been cleaned & was not cleaned while we were there. There were no paper towels. Out of 4 sinks, all water faucets were loose & the only one working was the handicap sink. The ONLY dumpster was full & over the top We asked when leaving when the trash was picked up & was told “once a week”. That’s clearly not enough for a campground with 142 sites.

So the park itself and the campground were GREAT! Absolutely lovely place to stay. However, depending on the season, check your site carefully. We wound up with a MASSIVE ant infestation after one night staying over on a trip. 😭
