Stayed in site 101 in the Anti loop and was a perfect spot to tent camp. Had great view of the water. The place was quiet and clean. Showers available too. Would stay here again

Beautiful campground. We made our reservation last minute to get some rest. Arrived safely at 7:30 Found our site pretty easily. Large back in site with plenty of room. Everything was perfect. Great bathroom and shower . It appeared to be very clean. I wish we had more time to explore all the area. I was especially in love with the Spanish Moss hanging from the trees. You can't get anymore southern them having moss hanging from live oak trees. Can't wait to come back and stay longer!!

If you love the woods, this place is great! Bring ant spray & granulated ant repellent/killer though. It is a must! We woke up to tens of thousands of ants all over our camper. They come up via power cords, hose, jacks, whatever touches the ground. The sweet ants are God awful here!

Pretty nice upper campground known as Catoma Loop. Lower loop needs a facelift in a bad way. Playgrounds are nice but no a/c in the bathhouse makes it miserable to shower.

Sites are spacious with cement pads , extra large picnic tables, nice grills , fire pits also have grates to cook on, full hook-ups, lots of trails. The park was quiet and well manicured.

We stayed on the older loop, and the spots on the lake had an amazing view of the water. Would have given them 5 stars, but the bath house on the old loop is in severe need of a refresh, and there are no hiking trails. The laundry room on the old loop was completely out of commission, so we had to drive to the new loop to do laundry. Otherwise, it's a beautiful simple park.

Beautiful park and just about every site is long enough for a 45 foot motorhome towing!. Deep in the forest…huge trees, large sites. I would have given it 4 stars, but they need more exit and directional signs. We ended up having to drop our tow-car due to a wrong turn.

We stayed at the older section, Antioch, in site 105 for 10 days starting April 28, 2023. We always love COE campgrounds, because they are usually well designed & well maintained. It is a lovely location along the river with large shade trees on the Antioch side. We were surprised by the rundown condition on the Antioch side. The roads are crumbling, and the bathhouse was atrocious. Only 1 of 3 toilets worked on the men’s side during our stay. We spoke with the host on our second day. Her response was, “I’ll tell them.” There was dried feces on the toilet rim that remained throughout our stay. On the women’s side there was a toilet out of order, and water from it seeped over into the handicapped stall in front of that toilet. It was always wet - gross. One of the toilets also had feces hardened on the inside bowl…not removed until day 9 of our stay. Also, there was a heavy urine smell…possibly from someone squatting over the toilet. Nasty. On both sides, only 1 of 2 light fixtures on the shower side worked. The shower heads are worn out, and spray water in all directions other than where they are supposed to. It made it difficult to shower properly. Melted soap remained in the soap tray 10 days - never cleaned. Soap scum on the shower stall walls would indicate they haven’t been cleaned in months. Every inside corner and many of the grout joints in the tile were covered in black mold - again indicating no regular cleaning. The trash was emptied and paper towels were refilled. The laundry facility was locked the entire time with no note indicating why. There weren’t many campers there except for one Sat night. We were surrounded by 3 RVs with more than a dozen people and 6 dogs. They obviously traveled together. They stayed up until 2:15 am with loud drinking. Dogs were fighting & barking - dogs were off leash, came & pooped in our site. In this day of explosive violence we were afraid to say anything to them after 10pm. We’d misplaced the camp host phone number. We have Verizon phone service. 1 bar. We could make phone calls, but not stream videos. Catoma side is much nicer and more like what we’re accustomed to at a COE campground. They had an old bath house, but it was cleaner. It’s not as shady, but better roads and pads.

This campground is so rundown. We stayed for 14 days on two sites and found the bathhouse rundown, and the laundry very old and dirty. The sites are nice but most are close together. The worst part of our stay was the old crotchety host couple. The day we had scheduled to move to a new site in the campground we chose not to leave. In the evening we got a rude call from the host lady demanding we drop everything and come up to get our paperwork. (In the middle of our dinner) when I told her I simply turned the post tag over and updated the site number and dates she informed me that wasn't good enough, I must come up for the new paper tag. Then she told us that the Rangers would come and "get them" and write them up!! As we are very close friends to a couple of the rangers here working in the Army Corp (she didn't know this info) I called her bluff. All in all, it was a very disturbing conversation. Be aware! Stay clear of this team!

Not only our 1st U.S. Army Corp Engineers visit, but our 1st ever visit to a campground. All we can say is WOW. It was only for 1 night but we're hooked. It is absolutely beautiful. We will be back!

Such a beautiful campground, even in early December with only Spanish moss adorning the trees. Catoma Loop is the place to be for long, wide, level concrete pads — a level of perfection you’d expect from the Corps of Engineers. Plus full hookups and lots of wooded space between you and your neighbors. We booked the week prior, and I was surprised at first that only three sites were available, given the time of year. Then I saw the low prices. With our Senior Pass, we paid $30 total for the two-night stay.

Catoma Loop Campground (Sites 1-75) have water, electricity AND sewer hookups and paved pads. Campsites are large and park is beautiful and well maintained. Close to Montgomery and an opportunity to join a Civil Rights tour of the area...lots of history here.

Great place to camp. All sites on Catoma are full hook up with 50&30 amp plugs. Very spacious sites and almost all have great shade in the summer. Playgrounds are nice as well and great fishing on this part of the Alabama river.

Lovely place, we were in site 114. All the ones who are complaining about the older section must be the ones that enjoy those parking lot rv resorts and have never camped in a state park either. Beautiful campground and the newer section is nice but I like the rustic and more trees and shade over the new section.

Beautiful Corps of Engineers campground. Two sides in park. One side has concrete pads, water, electric and sewage. Other side is more rustic. Pads are crushed rock, water and electric only. Great place to camp.
