Hello Oak Mountain folks. Please post some photos of the rebuilt campground. The newest photo I could find was 2 years old. There must be someone working there who would like this as an assignment. We live nearby, tried to go there a few days before it reopened and was turned away..."you can't go there, it's not open". Thanks, we have been RV camping there for 11 years. We also were there to clean up after the tornado!

This place is absolutely gorgeous. They have a waterfall somewhere but I think you have to hike to it and since my husband has sciatica he can't walk very far so we never got to see it, but, if we are ever back that way we will stop there again. Beautiful park Oak Mountain 🙂

I have camped at the tent sites several times now and it is always a blast! The sites are primitive enough to feel like you are remote while still providing access to restrooms, activities, etc. The park has a nice layout and that makes it easy to navigate throughout.

Can I say I would have loved to giving them 5 + Stars until I was just told what I was just told so let me say this as well you know people remember how you treat them in the things you say to him as we're exiting this campground after a wonderful 14-days day management prestige to inform me through the representative that called me of which I answered the phone immediately that there would be a problem. So here's the rest of the story when driveshafts fallout drive shaft fall out when mechanical problems occur mechanical problems occur everybody has them it's okay to have them but as long as we are forever and blessed we can always take care of them in a timely manner now there ever been in the current swear there was ever any reason for the state campground management to doubt our abilities to be timely the answer to that would be no were there ever any other occurrences that should have raised any flags know so when I tell you that the last thing that you need to tell I guess is that if your 1 hour later than you say you're going to be we're going to charge you for another day we're going to have to it's just the way it is. okay so less had to all of this my mind told me that first of all I've been going to this campground for 30 years and I am almost positive that this young woman who thinks she is a supervisor... Has probably never even stayed at nor does she have the salary to be able to afford a camper much less something to pull it with so with that said I know it sounds harsh forgive me later Lord. At any rate it's just rude preposterous and immature for a supervisor who acts like they have never had a 🚜 problem or have been fined charges that burn so bad that they have scars that would make them be resentful and sound resentful and sound like aggressive debt collectors that will take you down. Oak mountain State Park in state Alabama you should be ashamed love yourself because I will never come back to this camp at least 60 days after a ridiculous shutdown all because of a one-year renovation project.. and then the fact that someone was in a what do you call it an emergency situation where you're broke down and find somebody already down and then threaten them you'd be lucky if you got a damn packet of salt for me lady cuz I got more money than most... You want to sound like a bunch of unpaid thugs I'll never be back.

Super pretty! ✨ there is so much to do. I could spend a week here and barley get everything done! The water is lovely! And I found a cute little toad! His name is Ezekiel! 💚

The BEST state park camping we have ever experienced! We stayed at the Equestrian campground, and will stay there again in the future to get more space than the campground. So much to do at the park while also being close to groceries/ restaurants.

It rained everyday we were there, but we still had fun in between the rain showers and storms. Only problem I saw, was the bathhouses need to be cleaned more frequently. Will definitely camp here again.

I’ve stayed in nicer places for cheaper. The bathhouses are in bad condition and stayed filthy the whole weekend. The pitiful playground at the campground needs to be torn down and redone. It surprised me for such a well visited place it was so outdated and gross. Our toddlers did enjoy the other side of the park with the wild birds, the big playground and the beach area. Probably won’t be back unless prices come down.

Good camping with many well treed sites near swimming beach. Good for kids with bikes. Renovation slated for late 2023.

Nice park with lots to do. Money seems to have been spent on the golf course and mountain bike trails, not on the campground. Bathrooms are pretty shabby but clean.

10000 acres, 7 miles across; it's one of the best state parks I've been. LOTS of hiking opportunities and lakes with water sports and beaches. We stayed at the equestrian campground and enjoyed waymtching the beautiful herd of horses in the morning and evenings. A little hiccup at check-in, as we should have been directed to the equestrian park. Instead, we drove across the park and were turned back around by a very confused campground staff. ( the 2 campgrounds are about 6 miles apart) All in all, we enjoyed it and will definitely be back!

The park is beautiful and has a ton of activities for the whole family. The campground was peaceful and quiet. The two biggest complaints I have: 1) the bathhouses are horrendous. Unclean and only have 1 shower, 1 toilet, and 1 urinal. These need to be updated and cleaned regularly. I’ve been to several state parks and these bathrooms are the worse. 2) The campsite we were placed in was covered and surrounded by poison Ivy and poison oak. As an after thought, the camp store could use an update. It can get a bit crowded.

We've stayed here 4 times in our travel trailer. We have enjoyed many hikes near the campground. I can't comment on the bath house facilities since we've never used them. The only complaints are that the spots are unlevel and are in need of re-paving. In some of the sites, we were unable to let our awning out due to trees being in the way. There is no wifi towards the back side of the A sites, however we didn't mind not having wifi. We'll be back!

Reserved an RV site with the rules stating that it was for two motor vehicles with 4 adults. Arrived at the gate in two vans, and was told that sleeping in the vehicle makes it a camping unit, and only one camping unit is allowed per space. Had to rent an extra campsite, and the whole time the lady at the gate kept making up reasons for why we couldn’t share a spot. She finally called a park ranger who came up and said all the same lies she has said, and then got all salty when I called out those lies. It’s a classic bait & switch. They publish rules then change them at the gate to make more money. I’m going to be filing a class action lawsuit against the administration of the park for falsely selling something knowing they’ll double your fee on a technicality when you arrive. If you’ve been the victim of this scam, please reach out to me. Let’s make the grifters who run Oak Mountain pay for their con job! All this aside, The facilities are NOT worth the cost of the site. It’s a nice place to visit, but the staff, and facilities make it one star as hell.

I cannot understand all of the 5 star reviews this place gets. Nothing 5 star about it. The campground and facilities are in disrepair. Bath houses are horrible, wooden bridges near lake were rotted and even picnic tables are rotted.
