The BEST state park camping we have ever experienced! We stayed at the Equestrian campground, and will stay there again in the future to get more space than the campground. So much to do at the park while also being close to groceries/ restaurants.

It rained everyday we were there, but we still had fun in between the rain showers and storms. Only problem I saw, was the bathhouses need to be cleaned more frequently. Will definitely camp here again.

I’ve stayed in nicer places for cheaper. The bathhouses are in bad condition and stayed filthy the whole weekend. The pitiful playground at the campground needs to be torn down and redone. It surprised me for such a well visited place it was so outdated and gross. Our toddlers did enjoy the other side of the park with the wild birds, the big playground and the beach area. Probably won’t be back unless prices come down.

Good camping with many well treed sites near swimming beach. Good for kids with bikes. Renovation slated for late 2023.

Nice park with lots to do. Money seems to have been spent on the golf course and mountain bike trails, not on the campground. Bathrooms are pretty shabby but clean.

10000 acres, 7 miles across; it's one of the best state parks I've been. LOTS of hiking opportunities and lakes with water sports and beaches. We stayed at the equestrian campground and enjoyed waymtching the beautiful herd of horses in the morning and evenings. A little hiccup at check-in, as we should have been directed to the equestrian park. Instead, we drove across the park and were turned back around by a very confused campground staff. ( the 2 campgrounds are about 6 miles apart) All in all, we enjoyed it and will definitely be back!

The park is beautiful and has a ton of activities for the whole family. The campground was peaceful and quiet. The two biggest complaints I have: 1) the bathhouses are horrendous. Unclean and only have 1 shower, 1 toilet, and 1 urinal. These need to be updated and cleaned regularly. I’ve been to several state parks and these bathrooms are the worse. 2) The campsite we were placed in was covered and surrounded by poison Ivy and poison oak. As an after thought, the camp store could use an update. It can get a bit crowded.

We've stayed here 4 times in our travel trailer. We have enjoyed many hikes near the campground. I can't comment on the bath house facilities since we've never used them. The only complaints are that the spots are unlevel and are in need of re-paving. In some of the sites, we were unable to let our awning out due to trees being in the way. There is no wifi towards the back side of the A sites, however we didn't mind not having wifi. We'll be back!

Reserved an RV site with the rules stating that it was for two motor vehicles with 4 adults. Arrived at the gate in two vans, and was told that sleeping in the vehicle makes it a camping unit, and only one camping unit is allowed per space. Had to rent an extra campsite, and the whole time the lady at the gate kept making up reasons for why we couldn’t share a spot. She finally called a park ranger who came up and said all the same lies she has said, and then got all salty when I called out those lies. It’s a classic bait & switch. They publish rules then change them at the gate to make more money. I’m going to be filing a class action lawsuit against the administration of the park for falsely selling something knowing they’ll double your fee on a technicality when you arrive. If you’ve been the victim of this scam, please reach out to me. Let’s make the grifters who run Oak Mountain pay for their con job! All this aside, The facilities are NOT worth the cost of the site. It’s a nice place to visit, but the staff, and facilities make it one star as hell.

I cannot understand all of the 5 star reviews this place gets. Nothing 5 star about it. The campground and facilities are in disrepair. Bath houses are horrible, wooden bridges near lake were rotted and even picnic tables are rotted.

We stayed in a partial hook up with our 44ft 5th wheel. Very nice state park. Staff is friendly. The spots are a little odd, we were surrounded all around us, our fire pit on opposite side of our rv. Sometimes we would have another rv’s front door facing us. Bathrooms were ok, one shower each. Laundry room was filthy but descent amount of machines & good prices. Great to walk our dogs but no poop stations anywhere in campground. You have to haul your trash out to entrance of campground. All in all it’s a nice campground & we would stay there again.

I love the layout of this park. Every site is positioned to provide a view rather than just stacking the sites perpendicularly. There is so much to do and see. I do wish the campground would add an enclosed dog park, recycling bins and improve the shower houses. Overall it is a great campground and I highly recommend staying there.

Beautiful place. A lot going on here. Campsites spacious and green. Great 1/2 mile hike to a pretty 65’ water fall. Wish I had stayed longer.
