Woodruff Lake at Gunter Hill RV Park - Montgomery, AL

Typical Army Corps of Engineers RV campground.  Sites are OK… some are shaded.  Bathhouse is horrible.  We had a similar experience with the bathhouse at another Corps campground near Memphis called Hernando Point Campground in Mississippi. Do better!

For the most part it is a very nice place, gate staff is friendly and helpful. They try hard to keep the camp grounds clean ,you can not always control rude campers who take advantage of a nice place. We often walk around with a bag in our pocket and pick up trash everywhere we go. Funding was cut yet they continue to do the best they can.

Gunter Hill Campground is incredible. Sites are all spacious, flat, relatively available, and inexpensive. The people at the check in booth are always welcoming and pleasant. We often use this campground as a stop on the way to and from the Gulf Coast, but it really is a great campground to spend a few days at. We highly recommend this campground!

I'm not sure if this campground has cabins. It is for camping with tents & campers .
There are 2 loops anti?? and Catona loop. There are rougher sites by the lake with water & electric. They may be all back-ins, but I'm not sure . Catona has cement pads and full hookups. Sites are pull through . They are mostly shaded, however we're in site 53 and it's perfect for our dish satellite and Skylink. No obstruction, but some are more heavily wooded, so you have to determine what site you want. We love it here .

Another core of engineering successful and enjoyable stay. The campsites were amazingly big and surrounded by beautiful trees. The shower house and bathroom were very close along with the washers and dryers which were actually free! FREE! I did two loads. We rode our bikes around and had a nice fire. The staff was very helpful and friendly! Would definitely go back

We stayed here for just about a week and a half. There campground itself is quiet. Despite there being people around us constantly, we never heard anyone. Our campsite was huge, and the kids had plenty of space to play around it. During our stay we say endless amounts of deer. Overall it was a nice stay.

I loved this place!! I could live there! Beautiful, lots of trees and shade, huge spaces, so very quiet, except some noise on Friday and Saturday nights, there was noise from the nearby raceway. Showers were very basic with really no way to keep  from splashing water on your belongings.

We stayed at Gunter hill campground for three nights. Site number 12. Nice sites with full hookups. Plenty of room, nice roads to walk, ride bicycles. Quiet. Clean. We were in campfire 12.
Only complaint is the boneheads parked here prior to us being here that threw their used rib and pork chop bones on the ground around the tree. Our small dog found them. Thankfully we were able to take them away from her before she could eat them. Some bones are okay but these type bones are known to splinter and aren’t good for small dogs. Throw your bones in the trash please.

Steep decline in the state of Gunter Hill campground from our previous year October visit. We stayed Friday through Monday. For our entire visit, the restrooms weren't cleaned or restocked. We had to supply hand soap and toilet paper. The garbage wasn't changed and someone had left an open dirty diaper in the trash.  Mosquitoes galore!! Bring spray and bug zappers. We woke up in the middle of the night to very strong sewer gas odor after a rain in our campsite #49. This site shouldn't be rented due to the proximity to the traps/ drain unless they can vent the odor up and away. The bathrooms flooded after the rain. The year prior we had a great experience in the park. Better park management is needed.

Great campground.  Catoma Loop is full  hook ups with concrete pads. Antioch loop is more rustic with gravel pads and only electric and water.  We stayed in Catoma Loop and saw no bad sites.  All sites have nice wooded buffer areas between them that affords a bit of privacy.  This campground is reasonably close to Montgomery and a great location to home out of for catching the numerous sights and historical places in Alabama's capitol.

An average campground in some nice woods. We were walk-ups from out of town during Irma, so I appreciated the hospitality and the well-maintained grounds. We stayed on the tent loop, so we had electricity, water, a nice picnic table, a fire pit, a charcoal grill, and a lantern post, all on a good gravel tent pad. The view from our site (97) was awesome. Sites were fairly close together, but with enough buffer space for some trees. The men's bathroom/shower was apparently horrific (though clean) but I found the women's adequate. All afternoom there was a lot of noise from the speedway down the road, which was a little annoying, but I guess some people probably like that sort of thing. All in all, we had a good time and I was glad to find such a nice place during the evacuation. Minus a star for the horrible men's room.

If you enjoy the peace of the outdoors find a campsite away from the playground.  Bathrooms were clean but soap dispensers did not work and the showers are not all individual stalls in the antioch site.  Keep in mind since it is next to a waterway you will smell a weird odor.  Also there is a speedway near the park and the noise of the cars are very annoying after sunset till about 8:30 pm.

561 Booth Rd. We are currently staying here and once again the COE parks are awesome. They are often a little remote as is the case here, but the beauty and price win out. It's in the woods on a lake, boat launch, a whole new section with large FHU sites, many pull thru. FHU $22 or with national pass $11....new restroom, shower building in the Catoma section. We recommend this park and would stay here again. Verizon signal is weak (1-2 bars) and because of the trees you could have satellite issues. - Review provided by RV Park Recommendations & Reviews Facebook Group

We've stayed here twice and absolutely LOVE IT! It's very quiet and there is plenty of space in between spots. The pads are all new concrete with nice gravel areas, and a fire ring. The playground is very new and shaded. They keep it very well and are friendly to boot. If you don't like this place, then your just stage 3 picky.
